Two cdj 900's and a 850 mixer, with roadcase and gift card (Will spend on a nice laptop stand)

This will allow me to streamline my setup, and leave my audio 6 in my bag for when I go to clubs.

It will also allow me to be indy of my laptop if needed.

I think it will be a good decision to get everything new, as this will be my setup for years to come.

I will also be grabbing two of these, and retiring my 12" PA speakers (if im still doing private partys)

behringer-b1800d.jpg

18" powered subs 1400w peak (Can't find RMS rating)

Total cost:

Sub's $650

cdj pack $ 3895

-selling old cdj's, mixer, roadcase -$1350

$3845

I have $1000 put aside from dj'ing currently, my aim is to do this when I am regularly playing in clubs (Could be a while)

Thoughts?

Hmm I guess, I supose it is alot of money just to streamline, then I could get the subs no hassles.

The thing is, I don't want to be forced to bring time code to every club I go to (Some might not let me either), so I though usb functionality would be great, and I REALLY don't want to burn 10000x cd's.

you're not going to need 10000 cds for an hour guest set, at most you will play two/three hour sets in clubs on the decks before another dj jumps on (even if you have to do the whole night, you will start off doin nightlife till peak time, play your set, then either jump back to nightlife for the last half hour or have the freedom to play whatever you want ill close), plus burning cds helps trim the fat from your collection.

you will have 2 cd wallets, a gig wallet, and a random/fun/muck around wallet

you're, a 4 channel mixer would be nice though.

actually, all im really looking for is a djm 250

the size of the filters in traktor are way to big

Filters are a HUGE thing for me

another reason was the 6% pitch range, but I guess I can live without it.

Yeah this bro ^ I've already got 2 cd wallets and planning on getting another 1 this weekend, so I'll have 1 for dnb, dubstep and electro/breaks

=D>

sounds like a good setup, big investment.

why go for 900's? if you have 800's though seems liek a waste?

if u want club shit, get an $800 2nd hand djm800? - (you would have full size platters/club mixer)

plus just alot of money to spend in general, maybe just keep your 800's for a while until you get mixing beatmatching down then reward yourself later when u can do it, and feel the need to upgrade?

Yeh, Dam Im going to have to sell my roadcase now

An DJM 800 would be amazing, and they might be a lil cheaper now the 850's out :)

Im going to need to get a new roadcase now

So looks like just 1 new sub and a second hand djm 800 by the looks of it :)

do you have cdj 850s or 800s sol?

If you have 850s dont bother if you have 800s might be worthwhile i moved from 800mk2s to 900s and wouldnt look back.

That said maybe 800s to 850s might be better?

Wouldnt bother with a sub man, you only use them at the big gigs and its most likely better off in the long run to just hire an epic jbl lol

@sol in relation to filters

Sounds like your a little to over reliant on them Sol..

not flaming cause im in exactly the same boat...

found myself using Lowpass and highpass for almost every transition... currently trying to teach myself to do whole sets without any efffects...

maybe its time to let them go Sol?

when i started (and even now) the effects seemed so over my head i didnt even bother with them. I just count my beats to try and put the track in exactly the right spot every time. maybe im doing things the hard way?

Nope doing it the right way, far too many djs over do the effects.

I only just started using the occasional filter now it's really not needed at all, better off focusing on harmonic mixing and picking the best spots for transitions counting your bars etc

must have watched like 1000 'how to dj' videos (including z2h hahahahaha) none of them ever really had controllers, and they always adviced to learn on 'basic equipment' ide djm 400/cdj 400's etc in which they didnt really use effects. so i never did.

Forget the sub man, if you start getting regular club gigs you will have no time for doing mobile gigs anymore.

You have a decent enough set up now to be able to get your skills down pat, but dont restrict yourself to using traktor all the time, burn a few cds and have a mix too.

You dont really need USB compatible decks to learn how to use USB's, if you can mix with cd's than you can use UBS's.

You will more than likely find a cd wallet better for club gigs over setting up traktor anyway.

So true.

I was all for Traktor untill I started using it at clubs and had to set it up while other dj's were playing. If I had my time again I wouldn't have bought Traktor in the first place.

i wouldnt bother sol

your current setup is more than enough, save ur money for something you actually NEED

as for ur comment about filters, sounds like your relying on them too much

ive read somewhere that u should limit urself to one effect per hour.. i recon thats a pretty good rule of thumb... nothing worse than a DJ who uses effects in ever transition imo

i always use filters as a 'get out of jail' card. if i feel the transition is sloppy, ill filter out to save my ass

That said one an hour is pretty lean lol, i will use for them for one im bringing in a song that cuts to whitenoise for a buildup or drop some high pass + reverb every now and then, but def shouldnt over use it.

I just thought of something.

Say someones using the inbuilt soundcard with the 900 via traktor on there laptop, and the next person want's to.

They have to use cd's or usb's for the transition, since they didn't give the dammed thing 2 usb ports. Even rane did it with there mixers.

Nice work pioneer :teef:

I assume you mean the 900 mixer (not cdj)

basically the next dj is fucked... choices are:

a) use the decks in HID mode (what club would have djm900 and not cdj900/2000?)

B) chuck a CD in until it's set up

c) use the roll effect for a 4/8/16 beat loop and beatmatch in, once you're plugged in :)

Nobody uses that feature man, unless you owned the 900 you would just bring a soundcard for timecode or one inside a controller.

I wouldnt bother touching denon as you want to familarise yourself with the pioneer mixers for club gigs yeah?
