So this has been bugging me for a while

Beatport formats a song a little differently, in terms of artist, song name, remixer

i like it to go: artist - song name (remix)

Beatport often have it as: artist - song name - remixer

is there a way to fix this so that i can have brackets instead of the hyphon, or do i just need to manually change it myself?

are you meaning changing the file names?

You could try using a batch file renaming program in combination with regular expressions to achieve what your doing.

You say I don't make sense?

You could set the program to replace the "-" with a "(", then append a " )" to the end of the file name.

For example, what I just said would be like this

Before: Mattus - song1 - ysm remix.mp3

After: Mattus - song1 ( ysm remix ).mp3

Can't think of any batch file renamers for windows off the top of my head unfortunately, shouldn't be hard to have a google and find one though.

As an example for a program, here is one I have used for mac in the past: http://www.publicspace.net/ABetterFinderRename/

Yea mitch the file name, also the file as it appears in Itunes... sometimes it has song1 - remix........and other times its song (remix)

is there a way i can make it so thats all constant, i got a little bit of OCD when it comes to this sortah thing :P

ill try using that method you showed to alter the file name

I dont batch rename music files myself

The way I do it is:

-Get everything into iTunes.

-Fix the tags manually (using edit multiple tags where appropriate)

-Have iTunes set to upfate FileName automatically when I change the tag values

mattus i am pretty sure you can select it in the downloader program.

when i first started buying i had the song number at the start (which was the default), and then i changed it to artist - song

im on a diff computer but ill have a look when i have a tick.

yea i did that eggsell, its still got the - instead of the (

ill either have to learn to deal with it or try that batch processing that mitch mentioned

its jsut odd that some songs go song - remixer, and others go song (remixer)

you'd think they'd have a consistent labeling method

oh otay i think i gets you.

its probably more use of the brackets when its stating the name of the remix not necessarily the remixer. as opposed to the file naming system is the name of the remixer.

e.g

eggssell - sweat from my balls (drrty drrty mix) - drrt doggie dogg

where drrt doggie dogg did the drrty drrty mix
