SolDios
Hey guys, so I have been wondering, what is the digital out/in used for on the back of cdj's and mixers? Is the sound quality better? or is it just for less cables? And does it have fader start inbuilt? (I use it alot)
SourceRaver
Had a look at this a while back and the consensus was it was better quality sound but not hugely better than the standard RCA connectors. RCA cables are a lot cheaper, easier to find and replace (especially in the middle of a gig). Not sure about the fader start but I thought that was triggered by the mixer and the command sent to the CDJ via a fader start cable. Best to RTFM Sol. MelodyIlliterate
fader start is cool... big over dramatic slam of the fader... next track starts automatically... looks bau5!
SolDios
Good for having the build-up of one song, then have the drop of another.
Gandy
but you can do that without fader start... you have 2 hands, 8 fingers, 2 thumbs.it would go against every muscle memory in my body, but whatever works, i just cant think of anything more awkward to try and use
GREMM1S
So hard to flick the cross fader and press play lol
mattus123
i think the concept is good, but in practice i agree with gnady looks awkwardi like to tap for a few beats before i hit play anyway, going tap, tap, tap, fade seems like a weird idea
GREMM1S
I wouldnt have the accuracy of the button you would def have to be pushing the jog alot
Mitch
Back on topic, digital out is, well, a digital output. Offers slightly better sound quality but won't find as many devices that have it as an input. Better suited to things like home theatre systems where it can send 5.1 channel sound from your dvd/blu ray player to your theatre system. Music is always stereo anyway so your not using that feature of digital out. And RCA is still a standard and more practical than coaxial.
