Cupe Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Anyone got any details/links/info about events regarding DJ'ing, audio gear events, or producer meets etc?I'd like to get ADJF involved in some of these events around Australia Quote
andyman Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I think Store DJ would be a good one.I know DJ Warehouse seem to be partnered up with ITM, so might as well have a crack at their competitor! Quote
Cupe Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 We have a link on dj warehouses website lol. they don't tend to be very responsive with most things I've sent to them, but it's been a while so i'll open up talks againBut I'm talking large events with a number of businesses involved. like annual producers events and shit Quote
russell Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 You should look into the soundcloud annual meet-ups that get organised. See who's doing one near you and who's involved. Quote
GREMM1S Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I do know guys at warehouse can def push it if you guys have some ideas?Maybe some uni related stuff too, provide some djs or get involved with the comps etc Quote
mattus123 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Your Shot would be an obvious onethere is that remix comp, the Vamp Remix Comp (street and johnny have entered it)As GREMM1S said, maybe try with some of the uni's Quote
GREMM1S Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 In what sort of involvement do you have in mind cupe? make it easier to pinpoint potential events if we know what you plan on doing, just like handing out stickers and generating interest/involvement?Things like contacting the uni programmers to have adjf djs on at lunch or something once a week would be a good way to start.Ultimately a monthly night at a club or pub would be awesome. Scottie Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I know there'll probably be a headphone meet sometime this year in Sydney, if that's any good to youEDIT: http://www.head-fi.org/t/608735/propose ... -dacs-ampsMight have to sign up and see if they'll let you come, I doubt a couple more guys would hurt though Quote
Cupe Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 i'm not trying to run events.I'm talking about having an ADJF stall at like massive conferences, or audio tech shows or something Quote
russell Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 shit, i know nothing about events like that in Oz. Plenty in europe. Branch out. Quote
legunner Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 I know that at the beggining of the year at uni they always have little stalls with like all different clubs and shit that people could join im not sure if all unis do it. You could set up a stall there im sure there would be heaps of people there who would join Quote
Cupe Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 get some hire decks and run lessons and get cunts to come up and have a djwhen they're not coming up have dj's mixingepic idea Quote
OxyKon Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 This ^ is a really good idea, but surely there would be noise restrictions Quote
Cupe Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 yea we wouldn't blast itor else we would like, ask permission and be put to the side or somethingalso, i might achaly talk to my uni and see if i can start some kind of DJ school/club thing.any of you sydney lads keen? Quote
Scottie Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 That's actually a pretty sweet idea, everybody wants to be a dj Quote
GREMM1S Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 yeah i would be down for something like that, my uni and im sure most are the same will have similar types of things booked in at the uni over the semesters so noise would be a problem they often have djs at wollongong Quote
legunner Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 i think it'd be a great idea is anyone here from newcastle who i could possible join with to ask the uni? Quote
Cupe Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 i think it'd be a great idea is anyone here from newcastle who i could possible join with to ask the uni?before you all go full ball, i'll see about registering something so we are united across the country Quote
legunner Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Yep no worries i wouldn't make anything concrete it'd just be an enquiry but lets do that first Quote
MelodyIlliterate Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 i see dj booths like aonce a week at griffith. going to be hard to do it all yourself cupe... may need to employ more cupes Quote
Cupe Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 it's just about getting the initial club/society registered, then I can co-ordinate across the country Quote
Cupe Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 any other ideas?DJ or producer or audio engineer conventions etc? Quote
OxyKon Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I don't think I've ever seen a convention like that in Perth, would be awesome though, if it did happen, I would be down for it, I'm sure a few other Perthlings would be too Quote
AlexJ Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 yea we wouldn't blast itor else we would like, ask permission and be put to the side or somethingalso, i might achaly talk to my uni and see if i can start some kind of DJ school/club thing.any of you sydney lads keen?Would just show up to watch cupe try to not murder all the people. If you do teach people, make sure u do it on 400's/350's/800's. As good as it is to try and teach on 1000's/2000's you have to be realistic when thinking that 90% of people you have interested will be turned off if the gear they learnt on is going to set them back 5k.Also, (sorry if this is confidential info or something) is ADJF making any sort of profit? if not, put it in every community connect initiatives, means free tv/radio/newspaper ads. great exposure. my dad runs a radio station and they're community ad spots are rarely filled. in our listening are that would equate to (if you had ads in there) 20-30 seconds, 2-3 times an hour to nearly 150000 people. that would mean more than 20minutes a day, people could be listening to adjf info. just a thought Quote
