ImADJ
So, I have a laptop with inbuilt sound and I am becoming a bit of an audiophile, which isn't really a combination that goes well together. I was reading APC magazine the other day and I was looking at the ASUS Xonar Essence One external USB sound card. Should be one hell of a good sounding unit, but a long way past what I want to pay at $550. Here is a link to the overview: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/Xonar_Essence_One/I dug around a bit using the forum search and found another mentioned quite a bit, the Behringer UCA202. It looks pretty good, and can be found for only $60 or so: http://www.behringer.com/fr/Products/UCA202.aspxBeing only new to this whole DJing thing I'm not too sure on what's what, but I will want it for general listening (good quality of course) and possibly a bit of production, though nothing serious just for fun. I have heard that you need ASIO support for that, which the Behringer has.So, being new to this, can anyone give me an opinion on the behringer or anything else they think may be suitable? Maybe up to $150 or so?Cheers Guys! Alex

Mitch
I don't think he wanted it for DJing though, just production.I don't have any experiences personally, but ive heard the apogee duet soundcard is pretty boss. However I think they are only for mac.Maybe some of the producers on here will be able to tell you what they use

ImADJ
@ Wazza:Yeah I am looking at getting a DJ setup in the next few months, don't have the space for it right now. I am thinking something along the lines of Traktor S4, which has the inbuilt sound card anyway. That e box sounds pretty good though, and a good price as well, may be worth a look even if it is overkill for the reasons I want it.It is purely for listening to music in better quality and perhaps a little production down the track
SourceRaver
With Behringer, you get what you pay for. Their USB sound card is fine for occasional use and has saved my arse a coupla times. But if you want something for professional use then invest some decent dollars and get something with several inputs and outputs.
