street Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Hey guys,For my next song I'm planning on doing a remix of a semi-mainstream/commercial track to try and get me some more exposure because i've noticed remixing currently popular songs can do wonders for certain artists, like Slop Rock for example. So, your job is to simply name drop some commerical/semi-commercial tracks which you would find on say the top 100 on beatport or similar sites, or even the more top 40 dance stuff, to give me some ideas of who I should remix.Even better if you can find me stems or an acapella of the track.Fire away. street Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 Was actually considering doing a Call Me Maybe one but there are a billion of them already. Was thinking more modern stuff mattus as the production quality of older stuff isn't like it is today. Quote
street Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 Also, no songs part of remix contest tracks coz everyone is already remixing them. Quote
dflux4 Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Street,What about Matt Corby - Brother? street Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 awesome suggestions aran. Will look into them. That Matt Corby remix sounded like the original was hard to make massive and electro-y though. Amnesia could definitely work. Quote

street Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 Big ups to anyone who can find me a Cheryl - Call My Name acapella Quote
Lurk6r Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 This is probably the scotch talking, BUT, you could get pretty massive exposure if you made a track that samples a popular video game, such as Starcraft 2. It has heaps of phrases that could be use pre drop such, "Your allies are under attack" "You require more minerals" or my personal favorite "Nuclear Launch detected" Quote
GREMM1S Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Would only do a remix for a track that is well produced. Calvin Harris, Solveig are good examples wouldnt touch anything with pitbul in it.What about some indie but popular stuff, parachute youth etc? Quote
GREMM1S Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 new foster the people track?Which one is that again? Alot of those indie/electro type guys will send you stems and acapella or if not have them online anyway. Quote
street Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 Foster the People might work.Which song though is it called? Ruby? Quote
street Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 I thought about that one but the vocals are too reverby Quote
mattus123 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 what about chemical brothers - swoon i recon you could do a sick remix of that Quote
