kevboy Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Hey guys.Today i have called around a few DJ's i know to see if there are interested in an event that i have in mind. i am planning to contact the few nighclubs we have in the area to see if i could get an Ibiza style party going on. Basically i am fed up going out to clubs and listening to top 40 rubbish. We need an Ibiza style rave going on here, glow sticks, high-vis vests, the lot. i have the dj's who are willing to do it for nothing basically. i have it in my head how i want it but dont know how i approach club managers with the idea. Anyone any experince with this. Also how detailed a proposal will i reuire for visiting? Thanks in advance Quote

GREMM1S Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 *Every Club Owner* - But will you bring the punters in and make $$$?You will need a damn good proposal to get a less commercial (although cool) event going these days, it's all about numbers and making cash, they don't care about what type of music you want or your vision just to make money lol. At the same time i am not doing this to make money myself, i am doing it for the love of music and only that. i have a few people onboard now the help me out, those being the DJ's who are willing to do the first night free and then negotiate payments for future events if its a success, which i may add it will be. With the 5 DJ's and myself we have a good starting crowd with all of our friends. I have all of the promotional costs worked out, expenses etc. i Just dont know how much detail i should go in with for the proposal Quote
russell Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 With the 5 DJ's and myself we have a good starting crowd with all of our friends. One thing I will say is don't count on friends as the crowd your pulling. The first night you do they'll all come. After that the novelty has worn off a bit and not all of them will come to every event Plan it as if you don't have any fiends coming and try to pull in as many punters as possible. Quote

I am planning to get as many people as i can, up hee in Darwin during dry season is buzzing so i am confident i can get in the crowd, i am not saying it will be a walk in the park but i am willing to put in alot of effort to get this working. This is what i have resorted to to get a good night out in Darwin with half decent music haha Quote

mattus123 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 well to answer ur original question about the proposal, i think the more detial u go into the better. Or dont go into every detail, but make sure u have the answers to any questions they may ask.. which would mean u need to pre-empt what questions they might ask.ive never done anything like this but i can assume questions will be along the lines ofhow much do u think you will make, how many people do u expect to come, how will u advertise it, how much will we (the club) get from it, what will be differnet about your event, how it will be differnet, why will ur event be successful. im sure there is many more i jsut cant think of nay cause im half asleep.the more organised you are, the more professional your proposal will be and the more likely you will get this event happening.as for HOW to approach the club about this, ill leave that to one of hte other members who have a bit more experience with thathope it all works for you though dude, sounds like itll be awesome Quote
GREMM1S Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 One suggestion, start small. Maybe a back room or a second room in a club or bar.Creating a community is the key these days, get people sharing the music you want to play, get the djs all active on facebook and target those who will be interested eg dont put up posters just anywhere it's a waste of money.
