SolDios Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 You can get a disclaimer form and just say it's a hobby (which it usually is)That's how I do mine(Edit: Sorry, I can't remember what the exact name of the form is :/) Quote

eggssell Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 i dont see why you wouldnt anyways. that way you can depreciate your equip; and buy music GST free; all against the revenue you make (and hence tax free). Quote

Mitch Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 I have one for when I fix computers, can also use it for DJing if I want I guess. Just apply on the website, DON'T select that it's for a hobby otherwise it will say your not eligible. The options I remember picking:-sole trader-I didn't register for gst, but you can and then claim tax back as eggs said-you must select the primary reason is to make a profit (not a hobby) otherwise it will deem you Uneligible for an Abn Quote

GREMM1S Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 You HAVE to get one, but you dont have to select the tax part if you aren't going to earn over 75k from memory (which realistically most people arent). It takes 10 minutes online, is free and really there is no reason not to get one as most clubs are doing payments by this method only now. Jaz Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Yep, had to get ABN as soon as soon as I started playing in clubs, very easy dude, just fill out the ABN form online she the government website, just Google it...Only shitty part, don't get auto taxed so have to pay it manually at end of the year Quote
