Mitch Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 if everyone in the room at an 18th knows them it is cheese Quote
Hobberz Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Everyone has their own opinion on what cheese is.I know some people that class stuff from like the 80's and 90's as cheese, those songs that always get people up dancing. Then there are the people that consider any Top40 as cheese, then you have the people that consider any popular mainstream EDM as cheese. My folders are;Top40 RemixesTop40 OriginalProg HouseElectroADJF - Sub folders for Electro/DubstepDubstepMoombahton & MoombahcoreBreaksHouseand so on.For this month I will put all my DL's in a April 2012 folder, at the end of the month I will go through and place them into the genre folder I think they fit best in. Jaz Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 For me it's anything in the top 40, shit like shitbull, rayanna, David regretta, lady large bra, nicki mingelarge, Jessie gay... etcLevels is in my house folder, parades fedde remix is in my remixs folder....my USB set up isCommercial cheeseCommercial remixes DnB/Drumstep Dubstep House&Disco Electro Quote
Gandy Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 to me cheese = floor fillas, pop, top40 singles, stuff pop radio shit plays, etc pitbull... pitbull... pitbullcommercial = aria club charts, top10 beatport, stuff that is popular with us djs but wouldnt be with your average pop crowd that listens to hot fmthats my opinion, i always get a nervous twitch when someone labels something cheese when you would never hear it on radio Quote
GREMM1S Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Basically i try to do it commercial and commercial club.Pitbul, Minaj and all those talentless whales go into commercial, whilst rattle and levels would be commercial club.I try to do it by whether it would be played on the radio or despite its cheesyness whether it is a proper genre eg progressive house, tech house etc i will still put it in the club tracks then. Vaughn Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Commercial/Commercial remix's in one folder Everything i like in another folder hahaha Then a folder full of everything from 07 to 10 (got it given to me) But has some good stuff but to much to sort (like 1500 songs) Quote
eggssell Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 i didnt think it had to famous to be cheese, in terms of edm.i call cheese as anything with catchy riff and a lot of times a female vocal, even more so if the vocal is diva style. Quote
mattus123 Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 haha perfect guysas i figured, everyone has a different definition of 'cheese'definitely answers my question, cheers guys Quote
legunner Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 imo cheese is anything i hear on a particular radio station in my townsomeone put it perfectly by saying talentless whales ie. Anything with an electro house influenced beat with a piece of shit singing or rapping on top.i've found that nearly no instrumentals are classified in my cheese album Quote
MelodyIlliterate Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 think I'm in the same boat Mattus... when I first started all this it just seemed that the only stuff I could get into seemed to be cheese.... now even though my tastes have grown, I have found myself referring to the progressive house in beatports top 100 as being cheese because I love it so much... all about perspective... and I fucked mine Quote
mattus123 Posted April 7, 2012 Author Posted April 7, 2012 yea ive been defining commercial as cheese, which was then making it harder and harder to draw the 'cheese line'but yea i think thats right, cheese is the shit thats on the radio made by the talentless whalesand commercial is separate to cheeseobviously there is some grey areas where a song like levels i would probs now classify as commercial, even though it has been played to shit on the radio Quote
