just a little announcement of my future direction music wise

hey guys and girls how are we all on this sunny saturday?? Little bit of an announcement for you all in regards to the direction i will be heading. Mix/Production wise i have been very quiet, in one part this is due to my new job working 10-12 hr days 5-6 days a week, the other factor is genre.

when i first started out, my main goal was to hit up club gigs and enter as many mix/dj competitions as possible. I achieved this early on the piece and while i was stoked i was a regular house hold name thanks to smashing out club/top40 performances/mixes, i always worked on side projects for the genres i was truly passionate about, which are trance and dubstep.

dont get me wrong, i enjoy the pop/chart stuff, i enjoy listening to it every now and then, and enjoy playing it every now and then, but its not where my passion is. Seeing how there are no trance/dubstep clubs where i live, i always had to put that on the back burner while getting my name out there.

i went soul searching a couple of weeks ago when i felt lost/disinterested in music, having an apathetic feeling towards the work i was doing really, really scared me, music my outlet, music is my escape, music is my utopia and i wasnt feeling that anymore doing the club/top40 stuff i had done for so long

i sat down and re-evaluated a lot of things, i have been blessed in the fact i have been able to play all my club gigs i wanted to, played for crowds close to the thousands and am so happy for that. I have also rocked some of the best private/corporate functions i have had the honour/pleasure of performing for. I have achieved everything i set out to do when i started.

now its time for me to look back and enjoy how far i have come, and look forward to working in the genres, while not popular to the general masses, have always held a place deep within my soul that i am finally able to share with my friends, fans, and the world.

This new shift in direction will see me pumping out Trance and Dubstep, and being so passionate about these genres of EDM, im hoping i can share and open up some of my commercial fans to some other genres that are out there and are worth every bit of attention as the pop/chart hits. I understand that i may lose some fans who do not like these genres, and thats something i will have to take on the chin, thats the amazing thing about music, with so much variety there will always be music that will appeal to people, and music that wont

i will close with one of my favourite passages from Serj Tankian

"when you lose small mind, you free your life"

^this.

It's the reason I'm starting to lean away from mobile gigs and my current club gigs, Just not the same as mixing what you love to hear - electro, dubstep, dnb in my case

only just got round to reading this, good for you gandy, you gotta look after yourself 1st, play what you love, and your heart will be more at peace, and if you do lose some fans, i say fuck it, cause fans will always come and go, but as long as your playing the music that really means something to you, and your improving majorly on that, more people will notice that and wanna hear more of it

Go for it dude :thumright:
