International gigs

Just wondering if there is anybody here that has done any? And if so, how did you go about acquiring it?

As most of y'all probably know I'm heading back to the US at the end of this year for 2 months, and I'm looking at trying to book myself a gig here or there

The cities I'm going to be in are San Francisco, New York, Philadelphia, and Dallas, not sure of the exact dates yet but basically from December through to February

So far I've been doing some research into san fran and I've found a couple clubs that seem pretty legit, looks like they mainly cater for hip hop, some breaks and dubstep, not much in the ways of drum n bass, from what I can tell that scene died off slightly back 07-08 but I'm hopeful I can find some drum n bass nights (imagine defkon tearing up the drum n bass scene in another country )

I'd like this to be an open discussion, any info on getting an international gig from your past experiences or what you think the clubs would be looking for in the ways of an international act is more than appreciated

Really need to go through contacs of clubs and labels man who do you play for in Aus? Pretty hard in places like US i would say if you dont have any mates or whatever over there, but still treat it like you would applying here never know.

Yeah well that was my plan, Lately I've been getting a few gigs at a pub from the guy I buy my records from, I've been trying to branch out further by sending demos out to other places and crews, do far haven't heard back but still trying, I figured my soundcloud would a good way to show clubs the genres I play an they can let me know which they prefer

Yeah thats true, maybe start looking for forums like this and facebook pages of events near where you are going, good luck with it though man would be awesome

Email clubs? Tell them who you are, what your doing ect ect, how long you have been a Boss for?

yeah email is really all i have to go on, but what im also wondering is how much detail would they go in to with my club experience, like will they research my background, how many clubs ive done etc etc

Maybe shoot them an email inviting them to have a listen your next radio show.

thats a good idea lurk6r, only prob with that is the time difference, 4pm my time is 4am New York, so about 2am San Fran on a saturday morning, there clubs would be going off so they probably wouldnt have time to listen in live u reckon? i do have the idea of sending them the link to my soundcloud, with at least 3-4 30min demos of a couple different genres

although the radio station has already made an artists page for me, which i could also link them, hopefully that would look some what appealing

As the other said, I suggest getting in contact directly with the promoters.

I'd think a local record store might be able to help you out, maybe email them and see if they have any contacts?

thanks CryWolf, ive found another club that could possibly be a good option, it has an email for dj's to send queries to, i also noticed that DJ Shortee from Urban Assault has performed there
