SourceRaver Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Let us know your thoughts on the direction of Dj'ing in the future. Try and keep it equipment related and please try to avoid getting stuck into the old 'sync button' debate. Here is what I think will happen...Dj’s will turn up to clubs with discs, USB or just a laptop.CDjs will all have midi capability and will be linked to mixers that have integrated sound cards.Dj’s with a laptop will download the appropriate tsi. file before going to the club. When they get there, they’ll just plug in a USB connected to the mixer and use the CDJs/Mixer to manipulate the software on their laptop (I.e. HID mode).Pioneer will develop the above system so the laptops will be hot swappable so not interruptions to the music.Laptop Dj’s will still have a controller of their choice at home on which to practise.Pioneer will never put a sync button on a CDJ, and will never need to.Thoughts? Lurk6r Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I think it has to be more idiot proof than downloading a tsi file. I think once rekord box and pro dj link become a bit more wide spread it has a good chance of becoming standard as there seems to be little chance of getting it wrong. It's not so much about making setup simpler. You need to know that you can plug it in and it will work, on time, every time.my 2c Quote
AlexJ Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Cdj 3000.. same thing as 2000 but with a 4th hotcue. retail $3000 Quote

GREMM1S Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Cloud djing, obviously internet will have to improve but you have your whole library with cues etc all stored and you log into pioneers new system where all cdjs and mixers are connected. I actually thing with media players like 900s and so forth that controllers will decrease in club use. Quote
Mitch Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 yer with pro link on the 900s/2000s you just rock up and plug your laptop in with a lan cable and your set.and seamless transitions are possible just having the next person play their first song with a usb or cd.I can see pioneer releasing a usb/hid only player, ditching the cd drive sometime in the not too distant future. x0russ0x Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Cdj 3000.. same thing as 2000 but with a 4th hotcue. retail $3000oh but they will be touch sensitive! and have COOLER led's flashing around them! Quote

russell Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I couldn't see anything like that ever taking over. Quote
Lurk6r Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I couldn't see anything like that ever taking over. Its more expensive than a cdj2000 setup and no tactile feedback... Quote
OxyKon Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Give it some time and I bet you the price will come down, this is only the beginning I believe Quote
SourceRaver Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Based on Traktor and near inpossible to beat match manually. Cue the 'sync' debate...Media players without an actual CD drive is a very good prediction! Quote
MelodyIlliterate Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 touch screen platter that has one ring inside the other... so the inside ring is for vinyl feel and the outside is for nudging like the outher ring on a cdj? Quote
Lurk6r Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 People start building their own controllers using open source hardware like arduino and have ir distance sensors and touchscreens and lasers and shit. Quote
GREMM1S Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 The challenge is to get the response time and accuracy spot on with touch screens and projector ones Quote
Mitch Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 response times with touch screens are getting good, but will still take a while til its on par with normal hardware buttons Quote
Robsta Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I could never get used to faders on a touchscreen Quote
AlexJ Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I could never get used to faders on a touchscreenindeedbut just wait until they turn into decks with massive sample pads. Quote
GREMM1S Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Hmm has to be a cost advantage too which i cant see happening yet, alot of variables as well how durable theyll be for club use, will pros adopt them etc exciting times ahead Quote
CapFive Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 look at it this way, you still have people using turnnies?old school will never die, but i think what defkon put out will eventually become mainstream in clubs, if not then mainstream for events for sure, who couldnt resist using that thing, it shouts "HEY LOOK AT ME I CAN PRESS PRESS!!!!"and thats not a stab at the autosyncness, seriously though, these days people want to know whats happening behind the decks, and this way it gives them a front row seat, i think this will start to get popular VERY quickly Quote
