hoddi Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 So I have my first gig coming up and probably mainly doing intro/outro mixing, I was wondering what tips everyone has to make it look like you're doing something all the to time entertain the crowd and to make it look like what you are doing is involved and that you you are doing a lot. Cheers Quote
yizzle Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 herei give you this because its sometimes more how you react to what your actually doing. Girl Talk just presses play, but the reason everyone goes off chops is because he does no one can tell the diff what your doing if you make it look good Quote
LabRat Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 perfect time to experiment! if you have an effects unit then go crazy with that or just go basic and try filtering out frequencies with the eq on the mixer Quote
legunner Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Jump around and dance the biggest factor when it comes to entertaining a crowd is to let them feed off your energy Quote
GREMM1S Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Have fun, you have fun they have fun. Fun fun fun. Quote

lloydc Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 fiddle/make minor adjustments with EQ knobs > look for that perfect next tune to cue > hands in the air for the build > fist pump/dance after the drop > repeatremember that you are the driving force of the entertainment and the energy... if you're not going off to every song, then there neither will anyone else. SourceRaver Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 If everyone is singing along to the lyrics, kill the volume so they can all hear themselves singing.Works really well for YMCA...not that you'll be playing that. Quote
MelodyIlliterate Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 or if your not too gutsy on killing everything... kill the mid and lower the highs... makes a decent instrumental section Quote

hoddi Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 well i dont have a mic so ill just use that as the excuse for the reason im not going to try that one ... lol Quote
mattus123 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 yea what everyone was saying before, you gotta have high energylast few house parties i did (were for mates) i was goin ape shit behind the decks (was also pretty plastered), pretty much dancing as hard as they were.. or sometimes i would make the transition, run into the crowd, dance with my mates and then run back and make the next transition.. they all seemed to love thatcrowd interaction is big, after the gigs i had people coming up to me and were like 'you did an awesome job, you really seem to get into it and enjoy it ey'if your not comfortable with that though, maintain some eye contact with the crowd, dont be that DJ that stares at the mixer all night and segregates themselves from the rest of the partyi look forward to hearing how this party goes, sounds like itll be sweet Quote
