FabDJ Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Read that JB Hi Fi are selling access to millions of song downloads for 100.00 pa.with their music subscription streaming service soon for i phones. Will that mean everone is a dj and will hire an amp and speakers for their own party? The catalogues we spent years creating are available to anyone for 6.67 a month. So I'm guessing you could sign up just before your party and make up your own playlists, plug in and off you go.Like to hear comments please. Lurk6r Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Companies are already renting out jukeboxes for around $150 a night, as a cheaper alternative to dj's.From what I've noticed, people that go for dj companies (eg large multi ops who overcharge and under deliver) don't know any better and are basically paying for peace of mind. That is the exact opposite of doing it yourself. If somebody is hiring you for your skill and reputation, then they probably realize there's more to it then chucking on an ipod.Thats my 2c Quote
SourceRaver Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Your IPhone or a jukebox won't go out on the balcony and tell the bloody smokers to get their asses inside cause their going to miss the speeches/cutting of the cake/hot brides maids... Quote
Cupe Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 it's like people who pay thousands for someone to install wordpress when all they have to do is click installor the fact people still pay for photographers when smartphones are like 8mp or some shit nowthere will always be morons or someone who realises there is something better than ur iphone out there Quote

RichoKidd Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Good chance for me to explain my main reason for chasing this DJ dream. As a teenager I would always go to parties that had music on an iPod. It wasn't bad music or anything but with a whole bunch of different people it was too easy for a song that most people like and 10 people hate to get skipped on an iPod. You'd spent 15 minutes in silence skipping a song till you found one you liked which would get halfway through and then get skipped anyway. I decided DJs get paid to control music, its one less thing a host has to stress about. That's my opinion Quote

Funky_Steve Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Agreed! A good DJ knows how to control the mood and energy of a party. They can read the crowd and change the music to suit the majority of the people, not the select few that "think" they know what everyone else want's to hear (ie their own fav tunes). How many people come away from an iPod party saying "wasn't the music great", whereas as a DJ that should be your goal for the night. GREMM1S Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Nope its no different to iPods\laptops now,Ive found demand for djs has increased lately everyone wants a proper dj whereas they used to play a cd or something. Quote
