brands that will pump and that will last you, pioneer make the best head units, for speakers you want kenwood or pioneer on an average budget, clarion make great amps and subs, had mine for 5 years and still going strong

do not, i repeat, do not get rampage amps, or fusion amps/subs

if you really wanna fork out some dosh go with alpine, expensive but good

Supercheap and autobahn often do package deals like 2 12' subs, sub box, and amp for like $400-$500

normal speakers are cheap as, only like $100 for some decent pioneers

Personally I recommend Autobahn, they actually know what they are talking about when u walk in there ,.unlike the high school kids super cheap hires

ok so i used to do car audio when i was a wee lad.

dont waste your time with speakers in the back. if you want to spend some money on a small set up this is literally all you'll need.

a decent headunit. its more about the sound quality they produce than the customizable features (ive never like pioneer...big fan of kenwood/alpine). get 5-6 inch splits for the front. and a 12 inch sub 300wrms is more than enough (make sure its a 4ohm single voicecoil - its cheaper and you won't need a big fuck off amp). get a 2 channel amp and bridge it at 4 ohms....get some good gain on the amp. on the head unit customise the eq so that there is no bass going to your fronts. but up the mids and treble. send all the low frequency to the sub. on the amp set your low pass filter at around 2000hz and your set. it will sound solid. also you'll benefit more from a ported sub enclosure, because you'll be running such low power. i had something similar to this in my first car, and it sound heaps crisp with solid bass. i had friends who spent a few k on theirs and didn't sound half as good - it's all in the tuning. mine set me back 90 bucks.

pm me if you need help
