Gandy
buy a new one or take it to the apple store, either way if its out of warranty its going to cost money
SolDios
Get it quoted to see if it's in warranty, if it isn't check local places to see if they will replace em for under $400 if they wont, mail it down to me and il do it for cost price Replaced hundreds of the regular macbook screens
SolDios
May I please have a picture, it may just be the glass and not the lcd that is cracked, in which case it will be cheaper.Edit: you can even do it yourself, the uni body's are so easy to fix, and would cost under $200. 1. Pop off glass2. slide credit card around edges3. pop off bezul 4. unplug screen5. take out6. do in reverse order
legunner
Hey sol the glass is cracked but there is a little damage to the lcd which is only noticeable on black screens.I will get a quote.
SolDios
If the quote is by next bite or apple, I can assure you it will cost more than a new one.our school sent off a mac for a screen replacement, came back with a $1300 quote (Unit was $1200)Did it myself for $

Mitch
I work at a place that does warranty repairs for apple, dell, lenovo. If there is reasonable doubt that the damage is customer induced we aren't supposed to replace/fix it.If it was a fault with the lcd and it wasn't displaying properly yes, it would generally be warranty. If we can see cracks in the lcd and marks on the case its generally a case of "you have dropped this laptop and caused the damage" and therefore not covered by warranty. Also if you go the way of getting it repaired, you play the chance that you pay the money for the lcd screen, but then it could also be the lvds cable, and then again could also be motherboard damage, so the cost of repair can quickly get out of controlIt is a reasonable question you asked, with other parts of the laptop it can be strange what is/isn't covered
