russell Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Same with Guetta, good on him for breaking though to mainstream radio. There's a difference between breaking through and selling your soul. Quote
OxyKon Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 why did deadmau5 be a whale for? It's because he knew skrillex was gonna be the "man of the moment" sorta thing so he just added to it. I've read all this somewhereBit of a dog act if you ask me. Deadmau5 seems to get off on trolling others, he does it every chance he gets. Would be good to see how he would react if the shoe was on the other foot. This just gives me another reason to think less of him and his stupid antics.I've felt the same way bout this dick for ages, I actually used to like is music, now days the shit I keep hearing about him makes me dislike him more and more Quote
mattus123 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Yea the more and more i heard about deadmau5 the more and more i dont like him.. he jsut comes across as a complete whaleim bordering on boycotting his tracksas for Skrillex not being a DJ whats that about? i thought i had seen videos of him mixing? Quote
Mitch Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 He uses ableton and a midi pad to trigger samples. However i have heard a stories of his computer crashing, and then he had to borrow some cd's and revert to le ol' CDJs. Quote
Gandy Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 big grats to skrilldizzle, he always seems so passionate and happy with everything he does music wise, seems pretty humble toonever liked deadmau5 as a person, and only liked his very early work (all the rest after his early work is complete trash imo), i remember him getting punched at an afterparty in either brissy or gc awhile ago, he was probably being a total faggot then as well Quote
Jaz Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 mm never seen skrillex use turntables but he does use a mixer with his laptop and midi pad, often has it hooked up to djm800/900 Quote

LabRat Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 He probably can. When you think about it? It's not toooo different to mixing cds Quote
russell Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 He probably can. When you think about it? It's not toooo different to mixing cdsbut is the point not that he doesn't use any sort of turntable or cdj? Quote
Mitch Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 He usually has one cdj sitting to the side. Never seen him use it, but presume he can Quote

It's not toooo different to mixing cdsbut is the point not that he doesn't use any sort of turntable or cdj?well i guess he doesn't label himself a dj. he's a producer, who like every other producer, performs his own tunes in their own way.it's everyone else that call him a dj. maybe someone should ask him? Quote
Gandy Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 i look at it more hes a producer, and when he plays out, he does the same thing a classical pianist does, except he plays scores of sheets with his pad/ableton etc instead of a piano Quote
Mitch Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 As said above, he doesn't label himself as a DJ. Quite the opposite actually, from interviews I've read he tries to label himself as producer rather than dj. So you can't really criticize him for not being a dj when that isn't what he is trying to do, or label himself as. Quote

Tomy Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 firstly. Deadmua5's little shirt thing is the weakest most pathetic publicity stunt i think i've ever seen. secondly, and i'll try to be brief, But i think skrillex getting a grammy is just disgusting. dont get me wrong i dont mind his music or who / what he is. but dont you think after the last 20+ years of EDM there have been countless amounts of BETTER artists than skrillex will ever be AND THEN this half head shaven piece of shit WHALE has the audacity to say that EDM isn't a genre only a platform? =D> good way to undo decades of work. =D> Quote
russell Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 AND THEN this half head shaven piece of shit whale has the audacity to say that EDM isn't a genre only a platform? Was this part of his acceptance speech or something? Quote
Tomy Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 its a quote from something he said in the MTV interview from the OP Quote
Jaz Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 what does he mean by its a platform though? Quote
Tomy Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 i'm assuming he's meaning roughly its a platform for other genres IE whats happening in US pop at the moment with every half spanish idiot rapping to dance tracks. Quote
