Cupe Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Where did the name come from? The name comes from an album by Godflesh, one of my favourite metal bands. It's got a real industrial vibe to it with a lot of electronic elements throughout so I thought it was a suitable name for my style of music. How long have you been playing & how did it all begin; What factors came together for you to take an interest in DJ'ing/Producing?First got my hands on a pair of decks at the start of 2011. I started shifting away from metal and over to the dance music scene more and more around that time, and just decided to invest in some decks for a bit of fun.It wasn't until mid-2011 that I began producing my own original music though. After my former musical focus broke up, I needed a new way to vent my musical creativity, and I thought EDM production would be a good way in doing so. What do you spin? How would you describe your sound and what sort of style/DJ's influence you?Big fan of electro house, especially the Brazilian stuff (Dirtyloud, Darth & Vader, Felguk), as well as some dubstep, drumstep and drum and bass. Any track with a sharp sense of melody I'll dig as well, that's why I'm also a big fan of trance, as well as the more progressive styles of EDM. What are your weapons of choice?Still rocking my original set of decks which are Pioneer's CDJ350s and Pioneer's DJM350 mixer. Can't see myself upgrading any time soon really, they're just so simple and easy to use. Production wise, my weapons of choice are my laptop, Logic Pro 9, as well as Native Instruments' Massive and various plugins and VSTs. If you could change 1 thing along your way up to where you are now, what would it be and why?I wish I had stepped into the production scene earlier. There's so much stuff to learn and so many tricks of the trade you have to know, so I guess more experience in that department would have been helpful. Before starting dance music production though, I had 8 years of experience playing drums under my belt, which proves really useful when it comes to making beats and your tracks punch hard. If you could put yourself as the resident DJ in any scene, where would you choose and why?Would be cool to go over to Brazil where all my favourite electro producers hail from. Playing alongside the likes of Dirtyloud or Felguk would be amazing! What other Australian DJ's/Producers do you rate?Redial, Trumpdisco, Your Ol' Lady, Knife Party and Timmy Trumpet (loljks)! What was the first album you ever bought?First album was Archetype by Fear Factory, another one of my favourite metal bands.http://www.facebook.com/pages/Streetcle ... 506?ref=tshttp://soundcloud.com/streetcleaner-1Cheers blud Quote
