i think the timeline is based more on whats pop at the time as opposed to being about age.

i would prob agree with this to be honest. When I was young the whole acid house thing had kicked off and by the early 90's house music was crossing over into the UK charts.

I feel lucky to be a kid at that time as the music in the charts is garbage these days.

What annoys me is that whenever someone says something bad about music someone else likes they always retort with "that's just your opinion."

There is such a thing as a wrong opinion!

The word to use in future would be "taste."

I don't mind some dubstep but I agree with most people here in that the fans are tossers and like all new and different music it's a fad. I'm not saying it will die out, I just see most of the fans as the type of people that listen to music based on it's popularity.

oh you are right robsta, there are many many mannnnny fans of dubstep that are only listening to it because its the new thing, and because skrillex has taken off...if skrillex was to say "im taking a year off to gather myself" like deadmau5 recently said he would take millions of "aparent" dubstep fan with him

its true

prime example.. i played sweet dreams (cazzette remix) at a party... people were saying it butchered the original (fair enough, everyone is entitle to their opinion)

THEN!!! at stereosonic avicii drops that exact same remix

nek minute

i am being requested to play sweet dreams (cazzette remix).... by a person who complained about it earlier :wall:

as for the comment about bad music vs the listeners opinion

i think that it is completely upto the listener what is good and what isnt

what about the metal heads who hate EDM, yet we can all say we like EDM, and some of us wouldnt be able to listen to metal

i cant stand beiber's music, but what about all those little kids that love him.. they are too young to care about whats popular and whats not, they just like what they like

Ahk fair enough, so how would you classify my music taste, I really like dubstep, the new shit that's coming out now, and def the old stuff, I started listening to dubstep back in 2007 when it was still underground, when skrillex was probably either dropped out of high school or skipping school, I grew up listening to old rock n roll like Hendrix pink floyd, etc, when i left high school in '03 I was obsessed with heavy metal, then in '07 I hear a friend of mine drop a Skream track "filth" and I was like wtf this is awesome, it was still a couple years before all this new shit started coming out, I also like listening to dnb, the radio show im on ive been dropping mainly liquid dnb, I also like hip hop, reggae and listen to heavy metal from time to time

Not everybody that listens to this genre are tossers, yes the majority of them probably are, but not every1

And from what I've read bro your annoyed at me for saying that every1 is entitled to their opinion, cause im the only person in this thread that said it

mr chow is entitled, he said he hates the drops in the dubstep these days, that's because it his opinion, it's his opinion that he hates the way it sounds these days

I'm not trying to start shit Ahk, I'm just curious

would like to point out i also said its down to opinion.

there is no bad or shit music, just music that may not be to your taste,

Personal opinion.

and who cares if someone is a scene jumper, they dont not like the music they are listning to, they obviously do because they listen to it all the time and go to the shows.

it may seem a little silly to us and annoy us at times, but what ever, who are we to judge, we dont get to pick who listens to what

"Opinions are like arseholes...everyone's got one"

Here's mine...

It's all about how music makes you feel. Who cares what (sub) genre it is. When you say you hate a particular style, your really saying your not feeling it or don't understand what emotion the Dj/producer was aiming for. A lot of folks don't like hard dance, but for me there was a time in my life when I could relate to the angry, driving bass lines and some of those tracks still give me the tingles. I've since learnt not to say I hate music but am just waiting for the right time and place (or context) to 'hear' it properly.

Jeez...the older I get the more I sound like a hippy!

I would say that there is definitely music I hate. nothing to do with not understanding it.. I just hate it.

depends on what you call music too

I think there's a different between real music that people have put effort and emotion into

and the commercial bullshit written in a boardroom and spewed through money generating puppets like ke$ha

Kesha's not so bad... bad, but not as bad as lady gaga or rhianna that deemed it necessary to go through their freak phases to grab attention.

i find it had to split dubstep into just nu and old,

im pretty sure i've only EVER heard nu dubstep and i still can only say i enjoyed under a dozen tracks, the rest i cant get into...

in saying that, there must be dozens of sub genres of dubstep on either side of the plate, :S

I don't like her music but I have respect for Gaga as she was a song writer, with a lot of hits under her belt for other poeple, then decided to go it alone.

That i can respect as she's an actual musician and writer. Not just some slut with a set of chebs that kind of sing.

i've dropped dubstep in some sets but only in clubs that hear it regularly. even then i find most people dont know how to dance to it.

but i;m sure at a dubstep night its a different story but i have noticed your regular punter female has a un-certain-ness on how to dance / what to do.

I can't drop much dubstep at my club, I wish I could but yeh majority of people center dance to it....I find song that have a long dubstep breakdown go down great though, bombs aways sunstroke breakdown in their party up remix goes good

Sidney samsons remix of "it's bigger than" Also goes great...maybe because it gives them just a taste before going back to dance music?

I use to enjoy dubstep but now it bores. Me. All this new wave of crap sorta changes me. I enjoy a few tracks but I find it very hard to stay focused mixing it for an hour

I feel reluctant now to tell people that I like/play dubstep out of fear of being seen as jumping on the wagon or uncovering a derpina that shouts at me 'omg do you play skrillex!? I love them!'

I play funky house opening sets at a commercial house club and when headliners like Bombs Away etc. come in and drop a dubstep break here and there it's amusing seeing the David Guetta fans feel all uncomfortable.

But when I go to dubstep events around melbourne and are surrounded by like-minded people that appreciate quality dubstep it feels good. People are enjoying the music, 'dancing' how they please whether that be a chilled out bounce or an all out skank-fest! So the scene itself is great but when it seeps into other markets or vice-versa it just becomes unfortunate for everyone. Alas, the noobs will be gone soon and the real heads can revel in the fact that the shit has been filtered out.

I just can't wait for when Rusko goes back to producing stuff like this

I have only really played dupstep at a couple of partys and i can say i got out on the dance floor myself and head banged. Alot of youth are into megadeath ect ect and hardcore bands and i find that dubstep is like there passage fro something to dance too. They see EDM as gay but they find dubstep kool.

I dont really love dubstep but i can say when i first hear it from flux pavillion i downloaded it straight away and rocked it for a little while. But there is only so much of it that i personally can handle.

Each to there own

Rock the crowd though, keep them dancing
