CBG Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Hey all just start my own mobile dj im only going to have legal music on their. Can anyone tell a good site to download music or is it best to buy old cd'sWait your starting a mobile DJ business and you only now want to know where to download 'legal' music? poor form man. Quote

SourceRaver Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I-tunes. Downloads are currently 256 kbps. Doesnt sound like you'll be playing on a stadium sound system so the quality will be fine for what you want to do. As for the legalities of playing them to a paying audience, there are a few folks on ADJF whom I'm sure can give you the heads up. Quote
Tomy Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 first of all if you download anything is it a LEGAL sitebest look at what sites that the mipi.com.au alow you to download from for a computer Djget caught then dont say you wasnt toldhave a nice daythis makes no sense to me Quote
Cupe Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 The lack of punctuation makes it hard, and you can basically disregard the comments about getting caught etc. blah blah, i think that's his general sign off on all posts.he's just saying, when you DL from the internets, make sure it's from a legitimate vendor.Apparently you may be able to confirm this through mipi Quote
CBG Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 still cant get over the fact that your starting a mobile DJ business and your only now sourcing legitimate copies of songs... Quote
Genetic Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 he's saying he has all the cd's he needs but he want's to get old tracks and new tracks, to keep his collection growing Quote
Genetic Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 nah got all my cd's but i want to know the best place for all the new songs any old oned i dont havehe's just after sites to get indiviual tracks, so he can get any tracks he doesn't have; whether they're old songs or new releases.hope that is more understandable Quote
CBG Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 oh yeah. roger that. But still... where have you been the last 5yrs spenny? lol Quote
Genetic Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 hey now come on i'd only just learnt about the specific australian sites late last year. before that i was just using cd's bought from jb hifi... and they cost too much when you're getting imported cd's. Quote
Genetic Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 but it's licenced under the australian copyrights act to sell music Quote
RhemyD Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 check out these two sites:http://www.visualsounds.com.auhttp://www.dmcworld.comMust be able to show evidence as a DJ however as these are not for retail sale. Ie. if you're a bedroom DJ and jsut doing it as a hobby then don't bother. First one supplies TOP40 and Club tunes, Second one is UK sight very well known for there quality remixes, club tunage adn chart hits. All of these are pre-releases and hence contain a sense of Commercial In Confidence. (Don't go telling every tom dick and harry you meet on the street) Quote
Cupe Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 ps. Caleupe move to Mobile thread?yep, right; done. Quote
pill Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 don't know if i've missed the wagon but i reckon bigpond is the cheapest. It's got $1.65 tracks as either 256 or 320 mp3s rather than itunes balls mp4s... Quote
Funky_Steve Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 If one was looking to move from CDs to a laptop and HD database, what would be the best way to go about it?Spend days and days transferring your music from CDs to mp3 format (and then paying APRA for the appropriate licence) or is there somewhere that you can buy a ready made database of most of the tracks any good mobile DJ would need for a sucessful gig? pill Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 There Are some databases but in my investigations you also have to use their software which makes it harder to mix. I think it's easier to purchase tracks online. Quote
