Cupe Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I duno about what that rich guy says about the big companies 'creating the phenomena of illegal copyright file sharing'People are pirating shit for free that costs moneyThe REAL problem behind all this is the fact that cunts like actors and musicians get paid hundreds of millions of dollars to do something that isn't very hardFancy tiesto being paid $100,000 to press press... what the fuckThere's no doubt the government is going to continue using whatever backing it can to get a hold of the reigns on the internet-the last free and ungoverned place in the universe Quote
SolDios Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Our real trouble is PIPAIf that passes, we can be fined or jailed for uploading a mix without permission from the artist of every single song we use.\And our website can be shut down for posting links to songs, and cupe will be the one with his head on the chopping block. mattus123 Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 i was thinking a similar thingwouldnt bootlegs become illegal then, cause a bootleg is a remix of a song without the original artists consent yea?Our real trouble is PIPAIf that passes, we can be fined or jailed for uploading a mix without permission from the artist of every single song we use.\And our website can be shut down for posting links to songs, and cupe will be the one with his head on the chopping block. if thats true, we r FUCKED Quote

Anything I can find say's it's targeting sites that facilitate/promote the use of copyright infringed material.I've not read anything to the effect of regular punter going to jail for posting a mix. Narukami Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 Dang gamit. i haven't even uploaded my first mix to the internets yet and i'm gunna be sued for it?ಠâ•╮ಠI am displeased Quote
Narukami Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 that video i posted, it's not just downloading illegal stuff. what SOPA does is to stop EVERY form of media that has copyright material. videos, songs. even if it's a harmless kid covering a song, corporations will sue you. and DJs use alot of copyright stuff on and off the internets. imagine if someone pots a video of you showing off your dj skills online, you and that person can be suedhttp://www.mashupciti.com/2012/01/13/th ... mmunities/http://myspizzot.blogspot.com/2012/01/w ... ffect.html Quote
Cupe Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 so everything created must be originalfuck the world will be flooded with shit and musicians will be paid the $5 a gig they deserve instead of 10 billion per album Quote
Narukami Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 i see what you did therrr.obviously, there are ups to stuff like this like what you mentioned but (like i said about DJs) what if we post our mix on the nets? Quote
OxyKon Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 So anytime we post a mix on say soundcloud, which has the options of saying its non commercial, that you are not getting any royalties for, that it's specifically for the listeners pleasure and entertainment, that we are gonna suffer for it? Quote
Cupe Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 soundcloud would be shitting over this lesgislation proposal Quote
russell Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 well soundcloud already have a copyright policy however it's up to the labels to let them know if they want tracks/mixes removed that infringe copyright laws. I know defected apply this right.... I think when it comes to electronic music we'll be ok as most stuff is from small independent labels that need people using their tracks to help promote material. It's the commercial stuff that'll cause people bother. Quote

Mitch Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Mixcloud still have anti copyright stuff written on their and say you are liable and they can take it down etc. They just don't enforce it like soundcloud does by scanning each upload and blocking tracks/mixes.Think they mainly have it their to cover their own ass Quote
