FabDJ Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Why are pc power plugs different even with the same brand PCHave to pull the office desk apart to use the plug and power supply in another roomto watch a movie.Got two toshiba PCs 5 years apart and the plugs are not compatible.Need the new PC for tv cause it has a HDMI outlet. Both transformers are 13volt with different size plugs. Can I get adaptors with a female inlet? Quote
lloydc Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 i thought all PCs were standard IEC plugs? guess I was wrong Quote
Mitch Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Pc's are all the same. I think he means laptop chargers. I think a lot of them are different so you can't plug the wrong charger into the wrong laptop. They may be both 13v, but could have different amps (current). There is a bunch of different standard plugs that are used, I have seen kits with adapters etc. To change the size of the plug, but if I were you I'd only use the transformer that came with the laptop as something could happen if you use the wrong one Quote
