Cupe
If you are looking for DJ work, it would benefit you to post additional details and to make yourself appear more professional (ie. correct spelling).

Mitch
Tell your friends you will dj their parties for free to get some rep up.Use Facebook or other social networks to tell your friends you can dj for them. Even your first gigs if you aren't getting paid, treat everything professionally. Eg-spelling, grammar etc. if your messaging or talking via Facebook etc.-handle yourself professionally when talking on phone -arrive to gigs early, set up neatly -be honest with clientsAll of these things will help. Friends parties is how I started out, and by following this i have scored a fair few gigs
imadje
Post a mix, or at least give us more info, if we all know how you sound we can give you better ideas how to approach the genres and situations that will suit you.
SolDios
Your not really going to find many gig's here, it's pretty much birds to the worm when ever one pop's up.Like all of us have said, be professional, list past experience, what style you mix? are you a mobile or club DJ? What area do you live?Your biggest way to get gigs is going to be word of mouth and FacebookWord of mouth:# Sell yourself, put up flyers, suggest yourself to people having party's, talk to people when you do have a gig, hand out business cards as everyone leaves.Facebook:# You know those public Facebook event's, post on them! people will see them and keep you in mind, I've scored over 10 gigs by doing this.(Even if they already have a DJ)E.G. This is mine from a few weeks ago:Hey, I know you already have a dj but if for some reason he can't make it give me a shout! $6000 worth of gear including strobe lights, lazer lights, general party lights, smoke machine and 4000w of speakers.Im also very experienced, have affordable rates, and can cater to whatever the host needs! DJFrash
thanks:). i have posted on Facebook but people don't seem to pay attention, i'l keep trying though. i'm 16 live in Brisbane and live at west end and aspley. i like playing electro, nu disco, house and some old school stuff to get things going. i'm also a bedroom DJ at the moment but wanna get out and make something for myself because i love showing people new and cool music. Lurk6r
i'm also a bedroom DJ at the moment but wanna get out and make something for myself because i love showing people new and cool music.Sorry to burst your bubble, but if your doing peoples parties your going to have to play the same crap over and over again. If your lucky and their open minded you can introduce them to 'new and cool' music. Eventually people will come to you because they like your style. But until then its very important to learn how to read the crowd.
imadje
Have to agree with Lurker, The bread and butter for most DJs is churning out the same "pop" hits that people want to hear. It's called "pop" because it's popular. If you wanna be a scene leader and play all the "cool" stuff you pretty much have to get yourself a following who love what you love and want to listen to what you want to play. The best way to do this is to begin playing whenever and wherever you can but always pleasing the crowd, then slowly, and only where appropriate, playng "cool" music to see if it works. This still means starting from the basics of learning how to read the crowd by doing "pop" parties. The other route is to be a club rat and hang out with the guys in the scene that suits whatever it is you call "cool" but as you're 16 this may be tricky for a few years yet.Dont give up though, there are guys on this forum who started with nothing and have got a foot in the door, or even to play huge gigs. I would def continue to follow all the advice in sols post above, even if you get no instant interest you keep trying. And feel free to ask more specific questions on this forum. Think through what you want to know, ask your question in clear simple words, and always post your question in the most appropriate area of the forum.good luck bro. imadje
I would guess go with what you heard there before if it was working. But country pubs can have there own rules and as i'm not even in your country I will leave this to the others

SourceRaver
Wow Sol... Thats a bloody good playlist. Every mobile DJ should have those tunes as a base music collection. If they don't, they can expect to get into real trouble at some gigs.

Lurk6r
WOW Thanks Soldios:) i have virtually no experience, I rock a set of american audio cdi's and standard 2 ch mixer.Cause its a pub they probably wont care about mixing and such. Besides looking through sols list, maybe go to place a couple days before hand, see what the atmosphere/clients are and if you have an iphone, have some credit on your account, sometimes important people (manager, bride, boss of the function) may request a song and it looks good to them that your going above and beyond to keep them happy. That being said, NEVER openly tell people you have internet or they'l want you to buy every song known to man or worse, youtube it.
