I sometimes do wedding parties in the U.K. via an excellent agent. Our clients usually have great music taste and book us to specialise in genres as varied as drum n bass, old skool rave, N soul, Motown, Punk, Rock-a-billy... the list goes on. But we are also acutely aware that at a wedding all the guests need to enjoy themselves. We thus agree with the clients that we will play normal wedding fodder until the bride or groom gives us a wink to mean we get on with the specialist "proper" music they have chosen for the night.

So to get the party started after the first dance or wedding waltz I usually run this little mini mix. I never play the recording, I always do it live, that way I can react quickly if any tune isnt working. So far I have done this for 6 years and by the end of this mix I have ALWAYS had a full dancefloor. It's cheesy, it's pop, it crosses genres and generations, it's what most wedding guests expect and what some of them want. It always breaks the ice.
