Can someone please explain the hatred that is directed towards dennis please? :(

Let's just say that he would never contribute to the topic at hand, instead he kept saying the same shit over and OVER again such as:

- if you don't have a ppca or apra licence your a criminal

- if you don't have insurance then asking for it

also from what I could do see, dude doesn't even mix.

Some of what he said still rings true.

If you are running a business as a DJ you should really have a PPCA licence and definitely should have insurance.

Oh and not all DJs. I know alot of professional mobile DJs making very good money and don't mix.

Then they're not taking their "Business" seriously.

If you're doing mobile work (and that's what this section of the forum is about), some venues won't let you in the door unless you prove you have Public Liability insurance.

And as for a PPCA licence, I haven't heard publicly of any cases against DJ lately, but they have every right to show up to a gig and verify if you are registered or not.

For the sake of a few hundred dollars in total, is it really worth risking your DJ business not to have them. Like I said before, I know lots of professional mobile DJs who earn very good money and I bet all of them would be covered. I guess it's what makes them not only good DJs but good business people too. (end of rant lol)

I haven't found anywhere that will even look at insuring me :/

Also I really don't see the point in getting a ppca licence, I HIGHLY doubt the artists get anything, record companys have enough money as it is. Not to mention there non-government, they can't enforce shit.

This really needs a new thread guys.

The issue with dennis was he wouldnt talk about anything else, and he couldnt understand any point of view other than his own.

The issue here is this thread should be about bad advertisements for DJ business.

More importantly, the government receives the money from the ppca licence and its not like they know which artists to play.

At the end of the day, we promote artists and to a lesser extent remixers so i guess it evens out
