What Musical Experience Experience Do You Have?

This is a point of interest for me, what musical experience did you have before you started DJing / Producing?

I did a little bit of keyboard when i was in primary school, and guitar for a bit over a year when i was alot younger.

I'm considering taking keyboard back up to help with learning to produce some EDM.

Where you in any bands, wrote songs etc.

piano through primary school, up to level 5 theory, played in competitions/plays/"gradings" for practical part of theory

took a break in highschool but still kept my theory up to scratch. took a break after highschool (8 years of no piano or theory) then got into djing just over a year ago.

i literally knew knothing before i started, tried playin guitar about 5 years ago which was an epic fail, then had some other friends that were dj's and i jus hung out wid them a lot more, they showed me the basics but i picked up the rest by myself, oh and if it wasnt for spitfire i wouldnt know what i know now about production in logic, although im still a way off from finishing a track

i learnt guitar with a beatles chord book, a guitar chord wall sheet, and my old mans beatles collection. sometimes i would just use major chords to replace some of the more difficult 7 chords.

it was good because thye repeated a lot of chords in songs just changed progression.

only real formal training was at uni i joined alunch time guitar group for about six weeks. was real informal with one tutor, and everyone just pretty much asking whatever they wanted. he taught me blackbird by the beatles which is beautiful. and help me get up my speed for satriani always with you, always with me.

i also learnt blue moon,the main intro for lean on me, and some debbie gibson song on piano by watching other people

im also pretty good on drums on guitar hero WT

My old man was in a rock band for about 5 or more years when I was growing up, he was the drummer so I learnt a fair bit about drumming. Been over 10 years though, wish I kept playing!

played the drums from grade 7 to 9 and then got over it, wish I kept playing though.

Im thinking about learning a bit of piano/keyboard to get a bit of music theory down though.

I played the keyboard in music fro a year, learnt how to play "my heart will go on" by Celine Dion.

But thats about it.
