Not everything they have is in 320, its not often but sometimes they don't have it available in 320, so that's all they can post at the time.

Later down the track when they get a higher quality version they may update it to a 320 version

I don't play 192 mp3 files.

If its only 192 on Djcity and you really want that specific track, i'd suggest hitting up beatport and spending a dollar or two on it.

Otherwise wait, and they may update the track down the track have it as 320

nothing less than a .wav will do for me.

I would love to have everything in lossless, but can't afford to with the amount of music i have :(

yeah it's a total rip off buying .wav files. I stopped using beatport for that reason. They charge way too much for .wav files.

Ideally I would rather buy on vinyl but the cost of that is ridiculous too. If i like a records i'll check if it's available digitally before I buy it. Unless its one of those ones that just needs to be in the record collection. 8)

sorry to hijack but i think you sorted right melody?

russell, you ever rip your vinyl? if so do you just use your NI audio soundcard?

ive been meaning to rip some stuff but never got around to it. i havent been too happy using pass through while using tsp. have to boost the sound up heaps on the audio 8 for the passthru deck, and add that to the natural vinyl static and it doesnt always sound too good.

so i usually go either tsp or vinyl only, rarley mix n match.

and for the beehatches who say post your own thread, i did a few years ago and no one said shit so in the words of cupe fark up :teef:

Yeah i've ripped some stuff. Always just used my Audio 8 soundcard. Although I have tried recording into Ableton but when I done this traktor would never analyze the track properly.

I find just recording through traktor works just fine.

Although I'd look into wy your having to boost the sound so muchfor pass through. It's always pretty close when I switch. Obviously some records are quieter than other so the usual gain adjustments should apply. nothing out of th eoridnary though.

hmmm really? not sure why.

cant remember are you on techs or stantons or other?

i have the st150's running on phono. and i set the audio 8 to phono (as i heard timecode works better on phono). so when i do the software pass thru (i.e. on the deck drop down box), the sound that comes up is quite soft. and i can either boost it on the audio box, or turn up the gains (be it in the software or on the mixer. out of laziness and not really touching the computer i usually do the latter).

EDIT: oh yeah i should have mentioned i was talking about the software pass through. if i just switch my mixer to phono, ground the table, and pass through the audio 8 then it sounds normal. i just dont like doing this because your not meant to flick the ground switch on the fly.

oh and now that i think about it, i could just do that. i.e. play the turnie as a turnie and not use the software pass thru; and just use tsp to record whatever input channel i have selected as normal.

that way no boosting or messing with gains. derp.

Ah right, with you now. I don't use the software pass through.

What mixer are you using? My Set-up is 1210's with a DJM 600. If i'm using timecode vinyl my channels are set to line in. If i want to play a real record I just switch it to phono. Tables are ground to the mixer anyway, so doesn't make any difference switching between phono and line.

I can't remember off hand what the various settings are on the Audio 8 so can't say how i set that up at the moment i'm afraid.

ive got a reloop iq2.

i get too much feedback if i ground while using tsp. so i only ground when i play through. but all good i guess i dont really have any need for the software pass thru then.

Do you ground to the mixer or the Audio 8?

Posted

neither. the stantons have a switch. im not that technical but i think it is because they are naturally grounded and then if you don't need it you lift the grounding via the switch. this is because they have the option of being phono out or line out.

Posted

hmm.. in that case it might be worth trying to ground the Audio 8 to the mixer. Can't say i'm 100% sure if it'll make any difference to your feedback but it may be worth a shot.

cool. ill give it a shot when i have sometime to mess about. right now its all working good as its setup and like you said elsewhere if it aint broke dont fix it :)
