andyman Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature.aspx?1252Not a bad list imo.Top 20 (along with the rest) certainly shows the strength and talent of our underground house and techno producers.Thoughts, opinions? Quote
russell Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I wouldn't rate Jamie Jones as the #1. He's there because he's a DC10 resident, runs Hot Creations (which has been a hugely popluar label this year) and had played absolutely everywhere this year. I saw him a few months back and he was too smashed to mix properly. He also has that tech house sound that doesn't go anywhere or do anything for 2 hours... Best DJ I've seen this year is sitting at #94 in the list, Mararet Dygas. Amazingly talented DJ and down to earth person too. Quote

Amazingly talented DJ and down to earth person too.I saw Jones a few weeks back and I thought it was great.Played to a packed room with Lee Foss, and kept everyone dancing for the entirety of his 3 hour set.Like you said, not number 1, but still very entertaining.Maya Jane Coles should have been higher imo. russell Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Maya Jane Coles should have been higher imo.I'm not so sure about that either. She is a fantastic producer, no doubt about that, but I didn't think she was anything special as a DJ. I have only seen her DJ once right enough so maybe I shouldnt judge her on one night. Quote
andyman Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 She is a fucking incredible producer. One of my standouts from this year. Quote
russell Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 She is a fucking incredible producer. One of my standouts from this year.she's up there anyway. Think my standout producer of the year would have to be Vakula. Boys been puttin out some seriously good records this year. Quote
andyman Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 True that.I must take my hat off to the likes of Maceo Plex, Art Department, Soul Clap and Tale of Us too.All of them have spent nearly the whole year in the Beatport Top 10.I don't get a whole lot of time to look for new tunes, so I just look at what's hot, and those guys haven't dissapointed me.Also, you're the only person on here that I've been able to chat to about these sort of tunes, so welcome! russell Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Also, you're the only person on here that I've been able to chat to about these sort of tunes, so welcome! thats the kind of music that floats my boat... well, thats more the core then I'm into everything that interjects with that kind of style. I like my music deep. Quote

ChevChelios Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Quality list, favs in there would be Motor City, Pearson Sound, Julio Bashmore and Ben UFO. Bashmore should be higher imo, just cause of his essential mix, absolute cracker. Quote
Blodders Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 that was an interesting crowd, there seems to be a good mix of djs... not just the same few... think i will be looking up a few sets and podcasts over the next few weeks. Quote
