Not sure if any of you have seen it on Beatport, but each month they have a number of charts featured from notable producers and players in the industry.

What my idea is, either every week/fortnight/month, we choose a user here to showcase their favourote 5 or 10 tracks that are circulating at the moment.

For example, you could do something like this:

Some of the tracks are old, but I'm at work so resources are somewhat limited.

Andyman's Top 5 December 2011

1. Larse - So Long (Original Mix)

http://soundcloud.com/larse/larse-so-long-snippet

2. Benoit & Sergio - Everybody (Original Mix)

http://soundcloud.com/benoitandsergio/02-everybody-128

3. Soulclap -Incoming Bitch (Get Low!)

http://soundcloud.com/susumurecords/soulclap

4. Ray Foxx - The Trumpeter (Original Mix)

http://soundcloud.com/rayfoxx/the-trumpeter-radio-editclip

5. Lovebirds - Want You in My Soul (Original Mix)

What's everyone's thoughts?

I vote different thread each month, and VIP or staff can nominate a person to post up their tracks.... or the last person to have posted their chart can nominate the next person.

I like this idea, with the person who does the last one nominating the next person.

if you leave it to VIP it's too many people to decide who does it, having the last person choose makes it easier to manage

i recon have a sub forum, where each member can make their own thread monthly, that way just say if gandy and tomy like andyman's chart's, they can all sesh his chart monthly, and so on and so on. 1 chart a month dosent seem enough as everyone has diffrent music tastes.

they i described above was how pottymout forums did it, and it worked really well

where would the subforum go under

Good point.

My vote is just a sticky for a month, eg: "Cupe' Top 10 December 2011".

post soundcloud links to 10 tracks, and that's it.

After a month, thread gets un-sticked, the person responsible for that chart will nominate the next user and so on.

might be better to keep a bunch in one section. it'd be sick to go through a whole load of peoples

like maybe have whoever wants to do it post their 10 for a month so like a few people at once do it, and you get to listen to a few different genres and shit

What about, under the music, make a section called "Charts".

Users are free to post their top 10, which will give everyone a chance.

Can I suggest we make a thread in it, with "rules" about how to format, and all that jazz.

At least then it will stay nice and clean, and we won't have shit everywhere.

Not sure it needs a whole entire section.

Also, making it have rules just means someone is going to fuck it up sooner or later and it's hard to police

we have about 15-20 regular posters why not have it a weekly chart? so its about 2 or 3 go's a year per person.

don't know if it can be just soundcloud though? how about soundcloud, beatport, juno, or itunes links?

i like the pick the next person but just cant pick anyone who's been in the last 10 or something.

it cant be in the genres because i assume most people's 10 will cross genre's.

my 0.02 dollars

edit: what a knob jockey, i didnt read page 2. yeah i rection everyone who wants to do it do it monthly. and even review the tracks a bit. my other point about not just soundcloud stands though

Why not? As for rules, you break them you get locked? That way people will make more of an effort.

Agree with this. A lot of stuff isn't available on soundcloud. youtube is a really good source for content. Would that be allowed to be integrated?
