lloydc Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 everyone loves a good lighting show at a gig, but this has gone to completely new levels.Normally I wouldn't make a thread for just a light show, but the scale of this is absolutely bullshit. It's a promo with deadmau5 for the new nokia phone, and basically a giant ad... but who cares, just watch!!! andyman Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 That's ridiculous. The IT guys at work saw me watching this and even they were impressed! Quote

lloydc Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 is it even real?yepfrom the description:Millbank was plunged into darkness with the iconic Millbank Tower acting as the canvas for a never-before-seen spectacular. Each of the 120 metre high building's 800 windows were covered with vinyl as 16 powerful projectors, stationed 300 metres away on the other side of the river, beamed 4D images onto the structure, making it seem like huge butterflies were flying across the London skyline and that the tower was spinning around. Billed as the "future of live events" the spectacular show was accompanied by music from super producer deadmau5, who created exclusive remixes for the performance -- adding the 4th dimension, and the event was broadcast live online to Quote
Cupe Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 that's retardedgimme some money deadmau5 Quote

Jaz Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 pretty neat. still dont want the phone its funny because deadmau5 has always raved on about blackberry's and refused to use anything else, then he switched to iPhone....never even heard him say the word nokia though Quote
MelodyIlliterate Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 seen deadmau5 before and was a little dissapointed... any one else think his mixes are a little anti climatic? Quote
Cupe Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 seen deadmau5 before and was a little dissapointed... any one else think his mixes are a little anti climatic?i hear alot of people go to his sets and aren't that impressedlike i've always said, you're only as good as your promo team Quote
Jaz Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 i wouldnt even call them mixes...but kind of agree, its like song song song, but im a big fan of his stuff so i still loved the 2 times ive seen him Quote
imadje Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 wot cupe said.if you do like this sort of thing google/youtube jean michel jarre. he was doing city wide light shows in the '80s with no advertising. maybe add your own soundtrack if pioneering electronica isnt your thing tho. Quote
SourceRaver Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I think Jean was the man behind the Gallipoli movie sound track. Does DeceasedRodent mix as such, or it more of a live PA situation (ie triggering bass lines, layering synths etc)? Might explain the lack of complex mixing. Given the amount of light and sound choreography in his shows, I wouldn't be surprised if it was all prerecorded and timecoded. Quote
CharlyT Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Thanks Lloydc for this post. Clubs nowadays don't focus on lighting anymore. Trying to save any possible penny.Have been to many and few display powerful/appealing lasers lights.check this one. Amazing lights/lasers/strobes/effects Charly Templarhttp://charlytemplar.com Quote
