acstewart25 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Does anyone know who the DJ's were at the 'Red Bull Event Vehicle Sound Stage' at this event?Realise they're may have been a few...cant find anything online. From the website / program: "Sydney's best DJ's will be spinning....Red Bull Vehicle...."Cheers Quote
eggssell Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 so i hit outpost again last satday.got to catch the last of the secret wars. this one between ken taylor and ben bigeni of taken skate clothing.for those that dont know, secret wars is a live art battle. each artist has 90 mins to come up with something while a dj plays tunes. ben is known for doing skulls so ken went straight after that. pretty exciting stuff and the dj keeps the mood by bringing up the excitement in the last 30.my shitty pics dont do ben's pic justice (on left) as it was quite intricate and had all drips and shyte Quote
eggssell Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 also on satday was shadow wars, a break comp. which i didnt realise was an iternational thang and this was the last stop.there was mens singles, female singles and teams.the singles was invitational only and had lots of internationals including korea (who are on top of the game at the mo); US; hawaii and of course some of oz's finest. awesome day and awesome breaks. the judges showcase (which was pretty much the 3 judges against the 14 losing mens singles) was awesome as usual.and i think i said it before at the other break event, the dj's at these are always awesome to come watch. as they just use a mix of breaks, breakdowns, horn stabs, intros and outros, bridges from old funk, jazz or soul tracks, to provide the soundtrack for the dancers. and its not the same as turntablists where it is about the routine this is just providing music to dance to. and how they can create builds is amazing.all four elements in effect for sure, with both mc's busting lyrical during some intermissions.and as a bonus the one and only grand wizard theodore, the creator, was in the building. he only did a small less than a 1 minute routine. but he did do an empathic speech bigging up all elements of hip hop, and its pioneers, as well as todays bboys and bgrrls. days like this make me so happy to know that this fad i got into almost 30 years ago is still going strong. the love was so strong that just before the finals they announced that the promoters had pretty much run into the red and as a free event there was no recouping so they started a collection passing a bin around. and shyte filled up quickly with tens, twenties and even fitties.i live and die for hip hop, this is hip hop for today, i give props to hip hop, so hip hop hooray.....shit photo is shit Quote
eggssell Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 i think last day of outpost this weekend, and there will be a pro/am street skate comp Quote
eggssell Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 oops i thought this was the other outpost fred mehanyways sorry bro dont know who was playing when you went but you can see in the pic, the dj at shadow wars was playing in the red bull truck his name was LU-CHI’SZ from holland Quote
eggssell Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 no ones put up the finals but here is the winner in an earlier round. the korean F E, killed this match and was a deserved winner of the compand no disrespect to the either guy in the vid monster (?), guys awesome too, great floor work. i saw him at platform as well (i think). but F E's stalls and that final elbow move just killed it Quote
eggssell Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 here is the judges showcase. which is a bit diff here, they have the judges against all the competitors who didnt make the finals.judges to the left. these guys were good (check vertical handspin at 1.40 ish!).but yeah keep an ear out for the DJ. freaking on point.oh and check the guy at 4.00.his name was ark and he was representing hawaii having won the hawaiin leg of shadow wars. i actually thought he could take it, but suffered from a bad second round in one of the elimination rounds that cost him. but still a great b-boy Quote
