ChevChelios
Stack em up.You can make some really cool kicks by using certain frequencies from different samples, like low end from 1st sample, mid from 2nd sample, etc.

ChevChelios
Anyone got any tips on getting your kick to stick with a low bassline, other than side chaining and EQ? Got some problems, just sounds heaps muddy.
Tomy
yep, tune your kick to the bass or vise-versa. i suggest playing your bass line in the same tune/note as your kick as tuning kicks can be hard

Tomy
you can use a spectrum analizer to see roughly what note your kick is. with this chartalso tells you what freq's things should sit at in your mix... pretty handy!
Tomy
ok here is how i make my kicks when i decide i can be bothered haha. step 1. Pick you kicksi'm using some vengance kicks so i've put the temp at 128bpm. i like the start hit of the kick 001 the mid of kick 003 and the tail on kick 002step 2. put them in order and roughly seek out those parts that you like so much, see if there sounding ok together. step 3. now is time to get them in there and matched up and flowing. matching the waves up is really really important other wise you'll get clicks and popsand fuck the whole thing upmore wave matchingbstep 4. you need to now fade of ever so slightly the parts where the wave is joining so its nice n smooth. you can do this with the fades in abelton quite easy or with a cross fade. i prefer the cross fade myself but i've got a screen shoot of each onefadescross fadestep 5.time for the tail of the kick.... repeat the steps above. i'e gone for a niceclean sine tail so i get a good clean bass soundnot the best match here so i'll move the tail in a bit further to get that wave running nice and smooth then cross fade overthe joinstep 6. check how that bad boy is soundinghere is my kick looking all nice and sounding good step 7. now that its sounding good i usually consoladate the samples togetherso my kick will look like one nice samplenow export it and save it into your samples folder.. all done.thi iss the basic start to making your own kicks you can of course, eq your samples to get them sounding nice/ how you want them.
