SolDios
Hey guys, do you know where I could get some piggy back kettle cords?Im going to bind a 6m one with a 6m xlr to ease my setup process, instead of running 2 individual cables out. Thanks! Lurk6r
You mean power leads? DON'T DO IT. XLR ISNT MADE FOR HIGH VOLTAGE NOR INSULATE PROPERLY, IF YOU PLUG IT IN SOMETHING ELSE ACCIDENTALLY YOU WILL FUCK UP A LIGHT
SolDios
No, I ment something like this, but KETTLE CORDS
imadje
but if you piggy back xlrs like that you will be effectively mixing two audio signals wont you?
SolDios
OOps, I ment kettle cord sorry :/
LabRat
I think it's near impossible to do that. And even if you could it would be a stupid idea. Try this. It's something I do with my cables. Create your own looms with cable ties so when you travel, you have the cables all neat and ready to go
imadje
Create your own looms with cable ties so when you travel, you have the cables all neat and ready to gowise.I also know of these if this would solve the issue (which I still not sure i understand) http://www.maplin.co.uk/2m-3-way-iec-su ... ead-228747
SourceRaver
Google 'alternative imports' and check out their 'piggyback to IEC' section. It's an oz company and easy to deal with:http://alternativeimports.com.au/sub/?s=Piggyback%20to%20IECYou can't buy piggyback plugs (for making your own cords) in oz anymore because some idiot wanted an extension cord and only had two piggyback plugs on site. The cord that he wired up was a 'widow maker' so they banned sales in Australia. One idiot ruins it for everyone.

To the OP, there are such products as a single cable with 240v + signal cables built as one, and have the correct insulation. However, they are pretty expensive. As previously suggested, you can always cable tie two cables together - but at the end of the day, we're only talking about saving you running 1 lead per speaker. Not that much time will be saved! imadje
I hate to be a bore but can anyone explain what piggy back cables are actually for? I mean what are the practical applications not including this idea of sols? I'm honestly so confused and am not sure such a thing exists here. lloydc
like a double adapter, but built into the plug
SourceRaver
Yeah. Often used to plug multiple generic lighting fixtures (ie par cans) into the same channel of a dimmer pack without using a power board/strip. I've seen some installs where they've used so many piggybacks that they've needed string to support its weight. Probably not a good idea. imadje
ok. and breathe...so they are a standard thing that have absolutely nothing to do with xlrs.and really wont save sol anytime at all.cool. thought i was missing a trick there sol: if you are trying to save time where xlr and IEC need to go to the same place: use cable ties to make looms as Spit suggested...if all you need is easier power sources for your lights go get a few of the hentai style triple ended IEC I linked to earlier
lloydc
all i think he wanted to do was have a 6M piggy back IEC cable and also cable tie an XLR cable to it, so essentially he'd be running one cable.am I fluent in the language of sol dios? or am I missing the point?
