SweetIshDub
so lately ive been using an eq to automate filtering. Since its a parametric eq its nice to be able to see the frequency spectrum and with automation of shelf frequency, bandwidth, gain and slopes I feel like I have more control over whats going on. Im just wondering if theres any reason not to be filtering like this. It just seems too good to be true
LabRat
If it works for ya then keep doing it. I personally use high pass and low pass filters and may cut the low freq on the eq depending what I'm doing
SweetIshDub
Yeah how ive got it now is an eq for the general sound of the channel and then an eq for filtering. The only thing it seems to be lacking is resonance control and some of the other features that actual filters tend to have
Bonz
parametric EQ is boooommmb.FL's version of it right?the Para EQ 2?
ChevChelios
The only thing it seems to be lacking is resonance control and some of the other features that actual filters tend to haveResonance is just EQ gain, so when you boost your bell curve, thats increasing resonance I just use Live's auto filter, unless I'm doing some weird sweeps.Fun thing to do, get 3 or 4 bandpass filters and set them to small bands across the spectrum and automate each one individually, helps when your filter has an LFO function which most do these days, you can make some cool effects. SweetIshDub
parametric EQ is boooommmb.FL's version of it right?the Para EQ 2?Yeaaa buddy! Dont know how Id live without itResonance is just EQ gain, so when you boost your bell curve, thats increasing resonance Sickkkk thats definitely good to know, thanks!Ive been using multiple bandpasses through fruity love filter for a while for dubstep basses too and loving it. But for cutoffs ive kinda steared clear from using LFO's and just drawn in the wobbles and sweeps in auto clips
Tomy
as long as its giving you the sound you want. there's 3 i mainly use. 1. ableton auto filter, brilliant and simple2. my EQ3. Suger bytes WOW filter, super cool because you can put an oscillator on the filter and get some seriously crazy shit happening.
