Hey,

I would like to buy a module that can convert audio to light. You have to imagine the following: There is a framework with spots on top of the stage (like here). I need a module that can individually controls the spots according to the music. Where can I get such a module and how much I have to pay?

Thanks!

there is no such thing

alot of lights have a built in microphone that can listen to the beat of the music and react accordingly to that

but the picture in that link the lights will be linked up to a DMX controller with randomized or even preset sequences

Those spots (par cans) are most likely connected to dimmer packs that allow each to be turned on and off or the intensity varied up an down. The dimmer pack would be connected to a lighting desk via a DMX connection. The person on the desk would be manually triggering the lights or using pre programmed 'chase' sequences.

I have seen dimmer packs that dont need a lighting desk as they can be programmed directly or have built in chase sequences. They may also have a mic so that the chase is triggered by the beat of the music.

You can also even buy a device that acts as the top part of a push up lighting truss that has everything built into it:

Or everything, including lights, built into one system:

It really depends on how much control you want over your lights.

You can make an amateur strobe light following my tutorial here :http://www.ausdjforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=7753

If you want something way more serous, ask around on electronics forums such as http://www.eevblog.com/forum or try going to shops like Middys or Jaycar and asking them for tips and they will help you and if you are lucky they may even draw you the whole schematic. Good luck bro. :thumright:
