mattus123 Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 hey guys, had my first gig last night and ended up gettin a beer spilt over my CDJi got napkins and shit onto it straight away, so the CDJ still works, and all the buttons work.. except for the reverse switchbasically, the whole deck is stuck in reverse which makes it pretty much unuseableany tips on what to do?ive been told to leave it in the sun for atleast 48hoursif that doesnt work, im hoping its jsut the switch that needs replacingany other tips, more than welcome cheers guys/ hoddi Quote
Lurk6r Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Put itupside down - so the liquid drains out of it, not further inin a container of uncooked rice - the rice absorbs moisture. What kind of a drink was it? If it was something like straight vodka, it might be able to just evaporate out, but if it was mixes with softdrink then it might leave a sticky residue in there. Quote
mattus123 Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 it was beer (the thread title ) so im guessing it may leave some stickynessi gave it a quick google, and some repair dude recommends cleaning hte circuit board ith a toothbrush and an alcahol based cleaner, so im prepaired to do that.. or tkae it to someone to get it done properlywe'll cross that bridg when it comes thou ill do the upside down trick thou, cheers Quote
LabRat Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Look for isopropyl alcohol. You should be able to get it from mist hardware stores. Try getting in and around with that. I wouldn't think you'd want to use anything like acetone but defs turn it over so whatever is left can drain out Quote
Jaz Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 I would take off the faceplate so the cdj is almost split in half, and leave it for a couple of days to dry before you try anything drastic, sometimes wet electronics just need airwhen I dropped my phone in the toilet it was fucked, split that bitch in half and left it under a fan for a day or 2, fixed itself Quote
mattus123 Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 haha thats it, im stayin optomistic, ill give it a good 48 horus of sunwhen you guys say put it in the sun, do u mean in direct sunlight? Quote
Cupe Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 i wouldn't put anything in direct sunlight, you just want the warmth.depends how hot it is, get it out in the breeze and warm outside weather, direct sun might do damagepost if i'm wrong Quote
mattus123 Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 yea thats what i was hesitant about aswell, at the moment i have it in the shade, there is a good breeze and warmth. i think that should do nicely cheers guys Quote
Mitch Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 i second keeping out of direct sunlight, but get it somewhere to get the warmth and natural light. Even a fan as jaz said could help if there isn't much breeze about Quote
Robsta Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Putting my phone on the heater after it fell in the toilet worked for me Quote
mattus123 Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 i second keeping out of direct sunlight, but get it somewhere to get the warmth and natural light.whats the differnece between direct sunlight and natural sunlight cause as far as im concered there is 'standing in the sun, and standing in hte shade' (standing in the sun is obviously in direct sunlight' Quote
Mitch Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 standing in the shade is still natural light, but is not direct sunlight Quote
Mitch Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 get the stupid mole to buy you a new onemy exact point in the gig thread Quote

mattus123 Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 Sorry for the derail, but how the fuck do you drop your phone in the toilet?i had a mate that had his phone sitting on a ledge next to the toilet and someone called him and the phone vibrated itself into the toilet Quote
Jaz Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 number one doesn't have any letters on it lawlon this particular phone i think it was for a commar or full stop Quote
mattmace Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 The rice thing is a good idea. My missus dropped her ipod outside in the yard in the rain, couldn't find it till the next day so it'd been getting soaked for ages, it wouldn't turn on or anything, left it in a bowl of rice for about 2 or 3 days and it works now although the screen flickers but it still does what it's supposed to...If it's been a few days since the beer went in there though i'm not sure if the rice thing will be effective as the liquid's probably dried by now but if all else fails it could be worth a try. Good luck. Quote
yizzle Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 robsta & jaz put a something that was in the toilet up against their heads... Quote
