What to do in this situation, Trying to resolve it politely.

Ok, so at the start I had this gig right, then they decided to get another dj in and kicked me out.

Then later he gets caught out after curfew and can't do it, so they come crawling back to me, then I take it up.

Now for some reason they want me to play again but they want me to share it with him (him 7 till 10 me 10 till 1) and bring all my stuff, they said (WE WILL PAY YOU $10 AN HOUR)

Im abit pissed off about it to be honest, for one there treating me like a dog and they have a smacko.

so they want to borrow 6k worth of gear, get me to set it up, pull it down and not go home until 1am for $30, but personally its not about the money, im more wanting to turn it down because there "sharing it" for no reason, and im the one doing all the monkey work.

so whats your opinion?

Edit: Ok they wanted an answer so this is what I replied:

Ok, im sorry but im going to have to turn it down, Im not keen on spending $25 on smoke machine fluid, 2 hours work checking everything before I even get to the event, then setting everything up, packing everything up, having all my gear at risk, for $30. Its not too much the money, it's all the effort im going too for 3hrs work.

It's just not worth it im sorry.

Then she reply's"

haha, k

Then my final reply was this:

I don't get what your laughing about, but have a nice night regardless

tell them they can pay $30 but you want a 5 grand deposit, refundable after all your gear is returned without a scratch

in all honesty i'd tell them to get fucked

^ lol

They where a pair of 15yo girls wanting a dj for there joint bday party

that explains a lot. no point getting annoyed at 15yo girls for acting like 15yo girls. seems like you handled it right :thumright:

[edit]

part of being a professional is dealing with those who are unprofessional. you'll often be in these situations so you may as well start getting used to it. don't let these kind of people get to you because you'll eventually give up booking gigs because you hate the bullshit.

Wait, so does the other guy even have any gear?

Nope, he's a dj at a local club, but he doesn't have any of his own gear.

One of the girls is trying to convince me to do it, she's getting cross for some reason.

so ive replyed:

Im not the one in the wrong here, you guys messed me around a fair bit. If your boss called you in and said "Hello were tight on money at the moment, so where only paying you for 3hrs of your 9 hour shift, and your going to have to sit around and do nothing for 3 of those hours"

^ yes, that was inspired by gandy
