SolDios Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 So tonight I played at a local pub at a 21'st, I started the night with smooth songs such as (Sometimes - Miami horror) and worked my way up.Unfortunately they placed me in an odd position in the bar, it was really quite small the area was playing. I tried to make a suggestion but it was disregarded. and I just decided to go with the owners decision. about 3/4 though the night, I had a problem, no one was dancing, no matter what genre I played they wouldn't get up (there was hardly a dance floor) but all I could get was foot tapping.then I heard someone talking about kenny rogers and decided to drop "the gambler"it went down really well and everyone started dancingThen I pulled out my collection of 80's 90's music and everyone stayed on the dance floor/Overall it went really well, and there getting me to do a girls night in on the 28th(p.s. it was tomorrow that was supposed to be the 80's night at the engagement party)if I have a spare hour I will make a zero to hero on this./end log Quote
Hobberz Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Good job Sol, nice work on adjusting to the crowd. Quote
eggssell Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 nice one sol, you played your part and hopefully allowed people to enjoy themselves Quote
eggssell Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 i still dont get why 21 year olds seem to love 80's and 90's music? maybe a handful of classics and thats it.im in my 30's and wouldnt want a whole night of 80s and 90s at my party. maybe a couple of BBD tracks, bobby brown megamix and thats it. i wouldnt even want too much from the early noughties. so much good music out now. Mitch Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 yer ive even done 18th's and they dig just playing 80's more than mixing new stuff half the time i'm like wtf.anyways nice one sol Quote
eggssell Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 i think i kind of get it. well maybe not 18 year olds, but say anyone born from 1990 - 1995.its because its something they can all relate to. because as you get older the music style amongst friends begins to vary.even fr myself, if i like have a party and id be liking things from slow roast, shabang, fools gold, ed banger, elefant traks, good music etc.and ill have a few holmies who will like kanye; and a few holmies wholl dig the disco of codes; and a few who will dig slop rock; none of the mates will like herd and so on...even more so, some of them won't even know the artists from various genres.on the other hand if we slap on some 90's pac, or 90's snoop, or 90's chilli peppers, or 00's craig david and so on. they'll be like oh yeah this is the shit and all know it, and all like it. even if its a totally different genre to what they listen to now. i mean even all my holmies who were once breakers/ dancers, scrap book graffing, rat tail wearing wouldn't listen to hip hop now. but would still put their hand up to nuthing but a g thang.thats my new theory Quote
awesome88 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 nice one with the crowd reading Sol. Sounds like you are doing wellgrants Quote
