anditz Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 So I'm thinking about creating a dj webpage. Does anybody know stuff about buying/setting up a domain name?kthxbai Quote
Cupe Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I doI can also give you a free subdomain while you're working out which other domain to purchasewww.yourwebsite.ausdjforums.comWhat do you want to know? Quote
anditz Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 How much does it cost? Who do you buy it off? How do you find out who owns it if you want to buy it off them? Once you have the domain where do you go from there? Quote
Mitch Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 To buy a domain there is heaps of sites, such as www.godaddy.com . Just google purchasing of domain name and there is an infinite number of sites to purchase from.If someone owns the domain, you can get their details using a whois service, such as http://www.domaintools.com/ OR http://www.whois.net/Once you have the domain you need to get it hosted, which isn't hard once you have the name. Can't remember the names of ones i've used, but i'm sure others will know some good ones. Godaddy does hosting too, but your probably better off going with one in Australia? Will be faster for us i'm presuming. Quick search of domain hosting will also bring up an infinite number of sites to host on. Go with a paid one over a free one, pretty self explanatory why - ads, reliability etc.Hope this helps Quote
MelodyIlliterate Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 What are you going to do on your page bro ? Quote
anditz Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 thanks for the info guysnot too sure yet, thinking about using it just for emails for the moment til we build our rep up a little more but then basically have a flashpage that links users to our various other pages such as facebook soundcloud myspace blog etc etcwww.autoerotique.net <---something like that Quote
anditz Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 lol it doesnt have to be flash, but even if it was - it doesnt have to have that much info on it so it doesnt really matter.it's not the same as one having one of those big fuck off pages with drop down menus n the like Quote
