FL sidechain question

Ive got a synth sidechained to a kick using the fruity limiter for the effect. Its an elctro track so its all good when the kick is constantly going but I want to switch it up to a kick - snare - kick - snare pattern instead of a kick -snare and kick. The problem is that Im still trying to have the sidechain going on all four beats but since the kick isnt there on the two and four counts, the sidechain effect isnt there either. I tried adding kick ghost notes on 2 and 4 and I also tried having regular notes with the velocities all the way down but it doesnt cause the effect.

I guess the simplified question is does anyone know how to get the kick/synth sidechain effect without the kick sounding?

The simplest way is to use a ghost kick man, no way around it that I know of.

Yep, silent sidechain as chev said. Every producer should be doing it.

Either that or buy a compression plugin that has sidechaining presets like Vengeance Muiltiband or xFer LFO tool

i dunno as much as these guys ^ but could you just add a kick on 2 and 4 under the snare but just drop the velocity on it so its silent...i only know how to do this in ableton though...(re reading that pretty much what chev n CBG said )

I set up a channel in logic which triggers the sidechaining but i just select no output so the channel is silent.

Is there a way you can select no output for a channel in flstudio?

In ableton you just turn the channel off. it still registers a signal, it just doesnt make it to the master channel.

So if FL's signal flow is the same, turning the channel off should still work, because your signal is going through all the compression before its being shut off.
