Your first gig

I'm from U.K. and was a club rat way back in 1990... was at Uni studying something irrelevant... walked into local bar that was empty on mid-week eves... asked if I could play for my mates...

Barman figured mates brought in = drinks sold,

I figured playing = practise.

all i had to do was make sure I brought enough mates. I played about 5 hours a night on average. After a few weeks people would turn up who were mates of mates, then out and out punters and strangers... and thats when i started getting paid for filling the bar.

Built rep from there, promoted own events, done a lot of the dirty work too (weddings, biffs etc), now have kids, mortgage etc etc. still never done a normal job, never had a major income, always had a great time :)

Did some house parties for free, then decided to try my luck at getting my head in a club. sent out a demo to a few places and 2 got back to me, had to promote and dj, they wanted me to pull around 30 people a night, at the start it was hard but after that it got easier as i started networking, they were very generous and played us at 12.30 - 1.30 for our first set, the place was rocking :D

a Friend got me to play at his gf's 16th however one week to go they broke up, but they still got me to play which was chill

When they got there they where impressed with my gear alot, and everyone started arriving round 6pm.

Ended up getting shut down at 2am but overall it was a fantastic night.

My first gig was pretty average (second gig was AWESOME!! lol)

I played at a club called Geisha and it was more like a charity event more then the usual club night but whatevs... I opened that night which sucked but we all gotta do it in our lifetime. I played fidget and didn't really worry about who was there or not lol the night was set up weird - I opened with fidget and the guy who played after me played prog and tech house. Didn't see how that worked but was an experience none the less.

My second gig however, that's for another night ;)

I was quite the same as spitfire, it was a charity fundraiser that I had organized for my tafe unit back in 2009, it went alright, few people showed up, made some money, every1 had a good time, dropped hard electro, my 2nd gig was the same 1 as spitfire actually, I played after the tech/prog guy, dropped breaks that 1 :P
