When using side chain compression is it neccessary to use normal multi band compression after it has been sidechained.

This is what I usually do and I just want to know if I'm waisting my time doing this.

Depends how you use the second compressor.

If your using the second compressor to compress certain bandwidths for some subtle mastering then why not just move it in front of the side chain?

SideChain's only purpose in life should be to sit there with its hand on the volume knob and every time it hears a sound from the input just turn the channels volume down.

if you stick that before another compressor you would effect the speed and curve of the side chain.
