Hi guys,

my set up consists of two cdj 800's mk2, djm3000 and some speakers Ive just purchased.

Im having trouble setting up, With the cdj's I recieved two sets of rca cables (1 red 1 white combination), with the mixer it just has a wall plug , same with the speakers.

So far, ive set up the cdj's to the speakers and they work fine, however, how do I connect the mixer to the cdjs and speakers? I tried to use the digital out on the cdj's but that didnt work, so Im using the audio L & R out on the cdjs connected to the speakers and that works, however the mixer isnt connected at all, and I have no rca cables to connect to the mixer or else the speakers wont work?

Anyone know what im doing wrong?

Thankss

yeah man,

Your left hand cdj player should be connected by rca from its audio out to the line in on the mixer (pick a channel fader you want to use on that deck, notice the channel number and then attach to the relevant input on the back of the mixer)

your right hand cdj also connects from audio out to line in on mixer via rca (again pick a channel)

You will need another rca to go from mixer "master out" to your speakers. You only get free RCA with cdjs, they dont give you the extra one you need to connect mixer to speakers hence why you got confused.

The cdj and mixer manuals will have pictures explaining it.

....read your manuals mate. You're setting yourself up to get dissed if you ask questions that could have been answered with basic homework.

I wont slit my wrists because I got dissed on a online forum xo, Ill go try what you said now, Thanks man

Hey Th3rio...

Foolish is just trying to say that your question maybe basic, but its important none the less. No question is stupid and we are happy to answere any more you may have. If you'd had posted it on some other Dj forums, you would probably have gotten some pretty disapointing replies. We dont do that shit on ADJF.

It sounds like you've got some great kit! Let us know how you get on.

yer man what source said. I never put anyone down if i can help it. I still keep things as straight forward as i can but am a bit messed in the head so sometimes things dont come out quite right :)

djm 3000 is a classic mixer, bit dated function-wise but has good sound quality and is built like a brick shithouse. Was often found in clubs as an installation mixer before everyone started wanting djm 600s.

Like Foolish said...pretty much the industry standard at the time if you were wanting something that could be rack mounted. I love my 3000 and it's still kicking on after many years of use and abuse. It's pros are the multiple inputs and built in effect unit. The only real con is the limited number of LEDs used to indicate the levels (signal strength) of the channels. Sometimes you might think the levels are perfectly matched but they still require a tiny gain adjustment. This was corrected in later mixers by the addition of more VU LEDs (orange in a DJM 800) for a more accurate visual representation of the channel levels. That being said, it's still easy to mix on a 3000.
