Lurk6r Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Yo,Where do you guys normally FIND new music?I got a dj city subscription, but they don't really have charts or whats hot right now. Quote
eggssell Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 i'm prob not much help as to whats hot for the kiddies right now.but my music leads usually come from word of mouth (esp. here); interviews of people i like in the music biz (be it dj's or artists); looking at who people i like are working with (either collabo's or remixes); and finally i follow shyte loads of record label/ artists/ dj blogs (fools gold; mad decent; atrak; craze; spankrock; cudi etc. etc.).and then from one track/ artist you can usually follow that lead to maybe 50 other tracks by looking at who has that person remixed for; who else is on their label; look at the tracks of the people who have remixed their track; look at the labels of the people who have remixed their track; look at other tracks by guest vocalists on their tracks; look at these vocalists labels and so on and so on.of course of the 50 you may only find 1 jewel. but that jewel is the next step for another 50 tracks.cant remember who it was now, but i remember jonny put me onto one dude which lead to about a 40 track haul.oh and once you buy a track follow them, any guests/ collabos, any remixers, and their label (heaps easy to follow in juno and beatport). which means you will always have a truck load of leads the next time you go in. Jaz Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 my favourite way is listening to people's mixes and picking my fav songs from there Quote
lloydc Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 try podcasts as well. More often than not, there are track listings available for most podcasts so you can atleast identify track names. Quote
street Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 follow heaps of artists you like on soundcloud. there will be at least 1 new incoming track a day. Quote
pundaddy Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Just absolutely raping artists at seekanddownload.com, following the aria club charts aswell, but also talking to my mates who dj, and sharing music amongst eachother is great too. Quote

Keep things unique and hunt for those rare tunes no one else plays Listen to setsFacebookSoundcloudTwitterMailing lists (artists, record labels, etc) - sign up to as many as you can! Quote
