th3rio
Hi guys, My setup consists of 2 x cdj800's, djm3000, and hdj 2000 headphones.I am a beginner, and I want to do a lot of practising at home. Ive been searching high and low for speakers, (just for practise, at most to take to a small party after a while, but probably not even that.) on ebay and djcity.com.auCan i please have some advice on what I should get? These are the 4 sets I'm leaning towards:http://www.djcity.com.au/products/pk-qt ... _1825.htmlhttp://www.djcity.com.au/products/qt12- ... _1751.htmlhttp://www.djcity.com.au/products/rc10- ... _1798.htmlhttp://www.djcity.com.au/products/pl210 ... _2058.htmlThanks again in advance. Jaz
None of the above, i have heard terrible terrible things about DJcity's cheap speakers....ive owned 2 cheap amps from them, 1 came broken already...the other broke after a day...And thats another thing, every speaker you linked is Passive bro, which meens it needs an external amp to run it...save yourself the hassle and go with powered/avtive speakers that have an amp built into them to power themLook at Behringer or Audioline speakers....they are reasonably cheap but have a good reputation
Mitch
My knowledge isn't fantastic on speakers, however i wouldn't recommend any of the above. If you are going to get PA speakers, get active ones that don't need an amp (as Jaz said). Also as Jaz mentioned, go with a brand that has some rep. So i'd recommend to spend a bit more and get something with a bit of quality. If you don't want to spend too much money (and want to stick within the price range of speakers you mentioned), for that money you'd probably be better off going with some monitor style speakers. However these are only really suitable for playing at home, and not out at parties etc.I don't know anything specific to recommend , so ill leave that up to others.Hope this helps man

Jaz
Just for practising at home? Yes it will be fine, but because you will only have 1 speaker you won't have stereo so no left and right, meaning you can pan the sound or if there is already a pan in the song you won't hear it...but that doesn't really matterbut if your doing party's at least 2 is recomended

th3rio
leaning towards these now:http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-2-X-10-P ... 519wt_1139Reason being, I don't wanna spend a shitload on speakers, that I probably wont use other than at home, If and when I get good enough to do parties ill invest in a better brand and size, or just get them hired, but atm still want them to be loud. any thoughts?
