A good beginner setup would either be CDJ 400 + DJM 400 OR CDJ 350 + DJM 350.

The 350 series has replaced the 400, they are slightly newer unit, recordbox support etc.

At the end of the day they have a similar feature set, and are both pretty good to learn on. Pioneer is the standard in CDJs, so if you learn on any of their models, it is easy to transfer your skills on to a higher level deck if you ever want to move in that direction.

A member on the forums here currently has a CDJ+DJM 350 set in a roadcase for sale, may be of interest to you - viewtopic.php?f=23&t=6982

As for speakers to use, i don't know alot so i'll leave that to someone else to answer :)

Hope this helps

I learned on my CDJ/DJM 350 and they were awesome... I have used a mates 400 and it was good also. I now have a 2000/900 combo and it was so easy to transfer straight across as the layout, menu displays etc are all the same. I am selling my kit also, however the kit above mentioned has roadcase and headfones also which mine dont so yeah, they are a good buy for sure!

Small platter CDJ's than either the CDJ350's or CDJ400's, these both support USB, and can be used with software in HID mode.

If you are after a larger platter than you could opt for either the CDJ800's or maybe the CDJ850's if your budget allows. Out of these 2 the only one that supports USB and allows you to use in HID mode with software is the CDJ850.

For your mixer I would choose between either the DJM350, DJM400 or the Xone 22. All 3 are quality mixers but the DJM's have more of a selection of effects if that is a feature you are interested in using.

All of the pioneer CDJ's have similar layouts and features so no matter what path you choose you will feel rather confident stepping up to CDJ 900's, 1000's and 2000's later down the track if need be.

Hope this helps

dont know much about cdj's but in terms of speakers, just think about where you intend on playing.

if you hoping to cart your gear and do some mobile djing, then yeah you'll need some speakers.

but if you just gonna be playing at your house, one way to save is just use whatever you have around the house, like a stereo (which is what i did); or guitar amp (which is what i setup for my nephew). might ease some of the burden in the initial upfront cost.

all you need is something good enough to put in front of you so you can beatmatch.

not to mention if you in a bedroom or lounge or rumpus , these are normally loud enough to rock it anyhows.

ALSO dont forget headphones. spend a bit more on that if you can avoid buying speakers.
