yo,

I just got a gig for a high school formal, but they say i need all my equipment tagged.

Can somebody give me a quick run through about what is needed. I had a look in google but can only find references to legislation and mining.

I got most of my power leads tagged, lights, amp, etc.

Do i need to tag the speaker leads.

What about the S4? Usb, power adaptor?

Laptop charger?

thx

yeah, its to cover the school incase anything happens, no biggie we get it done at work every 6 months or so. Just tee up a time with their electrical contractor and he will have all the gear necessary

Yeah or any electrician with the equipment and qualification.

Unfortunately its one of those things that now is starting to be needed in a lot of places. I mean, its a good thing if it saves lives, but a pain in the ass for people like myself who check gear for consistency and safety anyways before using it. An added expense for all, but hopefully catches those that aren't so careful.

As Gandy said, anything that plugs into mains power. Extension leads, powerboards, speakers, lights, mixers, CD players, IEC leads ("kettle plugs"), laptops, dizzys, and so on.

Same in U.K. its known as PAT (portable appliance testing).

Like andy muso said: it's not just cables - it's the units and the cables for anything that plugs in. So laptop and PSU, CDJ and fig 8, Mixer and IEC, all power extensions etc.

I get organised and get everything done once a year. Try and get mates organised too so all loads of kit is in one place and then I get a PAT engineer to come out... that way I get a discount for quantity of units and dont have to think about it again.

You will find that most laptops don't need to be test and tagged as they are extra low voltage. Any piece of equipment that is supplied via a transformer doesn't need to be test and tagged.

The transformer and the transformer power lead needs to be test and tagged.

Another example, Do you put a tag on your mobile phone? Consider a laptop the same as your mobile phone. It only has a low voltage going into it. Its power is supplied via a transformer.

You may get the odd laptop that power input is 240V but I haven't seen any of those in years.
