SolDios Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Ok, so a gig ive had booked forever was coming up this friday, this morning I got a call from an Aquitaine dj asking if I could bring my speakers and double team a gig on sat night. However I called the guy for this friday to double check and he said he had moved it back to sat night, he did not tell me earlier. So now I have two gig's, one to sit in on and the other to fully dj at, I get paid the same for both, but with the sit in I get to use/watch how a dvs setup works.so what do I do? Jaz Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 i say cancel the WHALE who fucked you around, that his problem for being a dumb shit Quote
SolDios Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 Mmm, goodbye potential clients though, at a joint gig Im not sure il get many gigs though it :S. Quote
imadje Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 option1:if the sit in dj has other gigs coming up maybe sit in on one of those, do the booked gig this sat and get paid twice.option 2:if there is an unavoidable clash go with jaz, cancel the client that changed night. If you go with him now he may think he can do that forever and so is not a good client. If you dont he may realise you are too professional to fuck around and treat you with more respect.option 3:Sat night fees are generally higher, ask the client who moved date to up your fee accordingly. If he goes with it and the sit-in guy doesnt mind take the extra money.BUT consider this: the guy asking you to sit in is also hiring your speakers? if you have to let him down because of your client is he going to book you again? Lurk6r Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 If your client changes the date without telling you its breach of contract and you don't have to do it. Or refund his deposit for that matter...You do have a contract and deposit, don't you? Quote
Funky_Steve Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Tell the client that you can not do Saturday as you have another booking already but see if you can find another DJ to do the gig for him and try to get a spotters fee for it from the other DJ.Then go do the sit-in gig and keep both parties happy. You might still get referals from the client if you have treated him in a professional manner and he is happy with the replacement DJ you arranged for him. Quote
CapFive Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Put it this way sol, you need to be honest with your clients, this Guy will respect that you allready have something booked, it shows that if it was his gig you wouldn't suit out on him, keep your sit in booking Quote
pundaddy Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Get someone to dress up as you, send them to one, you go to the other, reap in both sets of money. Quote
