i think a course is a good idea. (in your face caleupe ) i had a look at those today they sound ok.

haha yea they're probably a huge benefit in being able to learn alot in a small space of time

lol good point but i needed to get hands on help to learn how to use the second button on the toilet half flush and full flush, just blew my mind man

i did the first course tonight it was pretty good the first module was extremly basic but the teacher was great and i learnt a few things that i didnt know so i had my doubts but it was definatly worth the cashola

what did they cover?

the first part was about the gear you gotta use serato on turntables then covered the mixer where i learnt ive been double handling my gain and faders, then learnt about counting bars and how to drop songs with no beat into a mix in time with the bars covered a few more things but super basic oh n i learnt a shit load of serato shortcuts

as in if you max your channel fadders and only use the gain to level off then set the cross fader to soft your killing 2 birds one stone i dont know if that makes sence

ah i think so, i vary sometimes i use cross fader and sometimes i use channel faders

well ive finished the 8 week course and i must say i was worried it was a waste of money in the end i feel it was worth every cent.

Ive learnt a lot from industry professionals, including some of the biggest dj's in aus as well as got my hands on equipment i never thought of using. aswell as meeting other fellow dj's and networking i fully recomend the course if you feel stuck or just think you wanna refine your skills

you should never use the channel faders to refine volume. They should onyl be used to create fades and define what percent of volume they give when two songs a playing.

They should be at full and then use the gain/trim knobs to fine tune.

yeah i use my gain's to match volume but i blend or create mix with either the cross or channel fader

i use the gain to set the level and pretty much dont touch them after that i pretty much keep the cross fader center and use the channel faders to come in and out of the track.
