After my gig last night I found a hole in my collection.

Rnb / Urban.

As it's not something that I normally listen to, this is my weakness in my collection and the chicks love the stuff!

So what do people suggest to help fill the hole?

Cheers

I can see this being a problem for myself as well...

Went to watch a guy down in torquay on friday night he was really good, played a lot of stuff like that and it went down well with the crowd down there. Its somewhere im hoping to play in the future so I need to get my arse into gear lol

Yo. I aint too bigg on whats popping in the streets andi aint really been big on rnb ( except when new jack was in and in the early noughties when rnb and hip hop had converged such that all rnb tracksnhad a rap verse or all hip hop tracks had an rnb artist doing the hook and bridge) but i do know a thang or two about hip hoppity.

I wont go into the old school else ill blow this thread up bigger than word association. Ill just give you new stuff thats come to mind. And i might pop a few youtubes but thats not necessarily their best shyte and in fact i find most gems dont get official releases. So just take the lead and run with it (check the labelmates, check the producer and who they produced for, check who theyve guested for, and so on and so on). Ive found a single lead can bring fifty or more tracks to you. You may not like a lot of them but you may find something that you do like.

Anyways so i aint popped my ipod on my computer for a minute, so had a whole bunch of shit waiting on there. A lot of them were the freebies from odd future wolf gang kill them all, a lot of which are now getting full releases. These boys been getting a lot of hype but there are some talented cats on the roster. Frank ocean the crooner of the crew is my fave right now. Look out for him to blow up in the next couple of months. And the AWOL earl sweatshirt is the best lyricist. Here is a few youtubes. Not all party tracks here, but as i said just look em up.

First up some frank oceans. A solo track and then one with tyler

Heres one of my fave lyricists of all time pusha w tyler from golf wang. This is more a re-up gang Beat (pusha's crew)

Pusha T Feat. Tyler, The Creator - Trouble On My Mind from thecensus.wordpress.com on Vimeo.

Next ones an earl track. Okay okay not a party track but still a good track. And if you going down the path of hip hop you may as well see whats goin nah mean. Not that youll hear much from earl in the next year

Hmm so thats what i moved to ipod today. Now in terms of whats new. Couple of things in my to buy list that you should check. Of course theres the much talked about jayz and kanye collabo watch the throne. Now without any disrespect (its all perso opinion) i dont rate jayz. I grew up listening to west coast so never really got into it, but about six or so years ago i got into the midwest (yeezy, common, lupe) and wutang. So i gave it another shot and really didnt ratevamerican gangster and found blue print 3 so so. But seeing as i loved kanyes last album (one of the best of 2010) im curious to see how this pans out. So check that and check yeezys My beautiful dark twisted fantasy. Or even better grab some of the free tracks he was giving out every friday, they were some fo the best tracks to drop for years

Heres some random videos when you type kanye in vimeo

First one was from latest album. Censored to the shyte house and missing the final rap by nicki minaj. But has cudis bit. Oh yeah check cudis man on the moon 2 (also one of the best of 2010), i included an old track. and check everyone on good music label

All Of The Lights from Hadaya Turner on Vimeo.

Kid Cudi - Make Her Say Feat. Kanye West & Common (HD) from DatNewCudi / DP on Vimeo.

Heres a couple of cudders. He's latest official vid and an oldy in the same vein

KID CUDI - MARIJUANA from Grassy Slope on Vimeo.

Sticking with the GOOD music tip. Their latest release was from big sean. Its on my to buy list cuz i was a fan of his uknowbigsean mixtape from several years back, not so much his latest mixtape, but he one of these new schoolers who are fire yet had not dropped a full release (cool kids, chip the ripper, donnis and so on)

Heres a few random vids

Big Sean feat. Chip Tha Ripper & GLC - Okay from Elephilms on Vimeo.

Oh forgot about this. GOOD music cypher with the legendary premier on the decks. Ill let kanye do the intros

2010 BET HHA - G.O.O.D. Music Cypher from CaCHooKa Man on Vimeo.

Again from my to buy list the wu tangs legendary weapons. Not an actual wu tang clan studio album, but tracks from the wu and friends.

So go check that out.. Doubt there are videos.

But also check from earlier this year Ghostface killahs apollo kids which has a few club tracks and the usual tony starks love songs.

And also from early this year still in my rotation is wu associate Redmans album Reggie. Now this has plenty of party tracks!

Ghostface dont do many videos these days heres some redman (and watch the movie how high if you havent already)

Oops i just realised this was in mobile not beginner. So maybe some of the tracks are full on, which may fly in my old hood but not elsewhere. But im sure kanye, cudder and redman are all famous and all have party tracks. And trust frank ocean will be on everyones lips soon if he aint already.

Anyways wont be a hip hop expose without me mentioning MURS. Otay not new but still hot on the rotation and new shit on the way. But his duo with terrace martin had a handful of club Tracks and all murs albums have little party gems.

Just to add: "Urban" in U.K. includes some bassline tracks. Not the heavy bass wobblers but "niche" garage like:

these are also great tracks to use to bridge between the rnb 70-80bpm grooves back up to 130/140 EDM.
